**A Muslim rights group has launched a legal appeal against the continued detention of radical Jamaican preacher Abdullah al-Faisal.**The Muslim Human Rights Forum wants to block Faisal’s deportation and says he should be produced before the courts.
Kenya tried to deport him last week but Nigeria sent him back on Monday after airlines refused to allow him on board.
Faisal, in custody since his return, was convicted of soliciting the murder of Jews and Hindus in the UK in 2003.
Kenyan authorities have said they want to deport him because of his “terrorist history”.
He was arrested on 31 December after attending prayers in the coastal city of Mombasa.
Kenya’s Immigration Minister Otieno Kajwang said Faisal was on an international terrorist watch-list.
He was deported from the UK in 2007 after spending four years in jail.
A year later he was preaching in South Africa.
The Kenyan authorities said Faisal arrived in Kenya on 24 December after travelling through Nigeria, Angola, Mozambique, Swaziland and Malawi and Tanzania.
They had planned to send him back to Jamaica via The Gambia, but airlines in Nigeria would not take him.
While he waited for a flight, his transit visa expired and he was sent back to Kenya.
