Keeping inversely slippers in a correct position

:salam2:

Maybe or maybe not u guyz noticed that whenever we see any slippers inversely, we try to put it in correct position. Not only at home but also we can seen while entering/exit from a Masjid too, some peoples inverse slippers in a correct position.

Just wanted to know if there is any ruling about it? Moreover does inverse slippers cause any bad-luck or sin etc.,

Plz discuss

Re: Keeping inversely slippers in a correct position

inverse slippers are nothing more than superstitions such kind of things does not bring bad luck -anyway it was Christians theology in mid-evil times -- Muslims adopted it --and Christians went into Space and Hi-tech---->> we got stuck correcting slippers------------Peace out

Re: Keeping inversely slippers in a correct position

Part of my tariqah is khidmah ... Khidmah means "helpfulness" ... It is considered part of helpfulness to order shoes making them straight and tidy in a row and if possible out of the way of people walking. Apart from shoes that have been placed all over the area looking unsightly, they also present a small trip hazard and can result in people losing shoes and it takes them longer to find them.

We are instructed by our leaders to not only straighten the shoes but also to place them the other way round so when people come back out of the masjid their shoes are ready for them to wear without trouble. If we have time and can do it if a pair of shoes are dirty to clean them off a bit and remove the dirt from the area. This level of helpfulness is humbling for the heart of the person doing this. Shoes are considered symbolically low items and it is the habit of tassuwwuf to train the soul away from a position of ego-centrism and a way to achieve this is to serve the interests of others in a way that can be seen as otherwise humiliating.

There is no ruling about it - just like there is no ruling about not placing shoes on your head or spitting in the corner of your bedroom ... These are just common sense things that people have turned in to sayings in order to con people in to exhibiting etiquettes. They say "Don't put the shoes upside down or you get bad luck" - perhaps if they say "don't put the shoes upside down it is bad manners" doesn't work and the bad luck method makes people more vigilant ... I disagree with this tactic - but I agree with the act ... Shoes should be kept straight and orderly - the bottom of our shoes should remain facing the ground and since we associate the upward position to what is holy - it is not good adab for them to be positioned as so.

Peace All,

There are many other things related to slipper/shoes that one may not keep in in front while praying nor even at rear b'coz the person who is offering namaaz, those slipper/shoes will be infront of him/her and it is not good act while praying. :)
