Ok so I mixed keema with some masala for koftay, but i have too much keema left over. Any ideas on what I can do with it, besides kabab I mean.
Or lets say I freeze all the keema and then take it out later and do whatevfer wiht it. Do i just defrost it like normal keema or would I have to add more spices/wash it again/etc?
cook it, then put it in the freezer. pull it out on a day you dont feel like cooking.... other options-- add it to pasta, pizza, spring rolls, or that pastry that you got.
There is a good recipe for dam ka keema.. I love it. It has a lot of masalay in it. So you can just keep adding the masalay with what you have already in the keema. You'll have dam ka keema :)
If you work/study, then I like the idea of cooking it and freezing it in small zipper bags- then defrost in microwave and boil some pasta/rice OR can have sandwiches for lunch, steamed seasoned vegetables, basically anything-
otherwise, make something special- keemay walay parathay are AWESOME!
Keema ( spices added) can be frozen , but use it later on to make keema dum or keema capsicum or any other combination ...or make lasagna or pizza ........
... the only thing you wont be able to do is make kofta's or kababs .... coz for them keema must be dry, but defrost usually releases its water .. so you cant do much about it.
You wont have to add anymore spices to it when you defrost... just check on the salt though... but usually i do refresh the keema with basic powder spices .. coz if the keema has released its water content , then chances are spices will have gone with that water when you drain it out... but if you feel the keema was dry even after defrost then dont refresh the spices ...
you can make keema patties, freeze them on a cookie tray, and then freeze them in zipper lock bags. when you can't figure out what to make for dinner one day, take 'em out and make burgers for dinner!
Ok i decided to jus finsih off hte keema today and make kababs
except when i took out the keema, it was partially brown on the outside and pink on the inside. It had bee in the fridge since Tuesday, in a closed plastic container.
Has it gone bad ???
If it was fresh qeema that had been sitting in the fridge for a couple of days...I dont think it bad at all.
That brown film is just like any kind of film settling on food that has been sitting for a bit. It happens but dont freeze the meat again...now just cook it and be done with it.
Sincere advise, three days is a long time for raw meat to be in the fridge …Please never take that risk again. The minute you have extra meat left, freeze it … Eating meat thats gone off can give serious poisoning …
