Re: Kayani decries military bashing
If you can know them in real ,You will just start praising Zardari for his talent to survive in their presence .
I already do praise him for surviving in their presence and despite the 'fantastic' performance of his government. I am actually glad that Zardari was president rather than a general when the Mumbai killings happened.
The mood of people was so against military after Mushy left that if PPP government did perform even a little bit, millions of people would stand in the way of future generals intending another 'adventure'.
But... e.g. hundreds killed in Karachi and interior minister gets a PhD degree for that... and vulture behavior with state institutions give generals an excuse to interfere.

Almost a year passed, What they are hiding
Re: Kayani decries military bashing
For 60 years, we have praised them and kept feeding them keeping our children hungry and our mothers without health care.... what do we get? DHA, Fauji Foundation? Massive banglows for military officers and our doctors and teachers in pigeon holes? Half of Pakistan lost... other half bleeding... a few people attack GHQ of the military and it goes on for hours????
If you drive from Delhi to Jaipur (a distance similar to Lhr-Rwp), you don't see any 'cantt' area. Drive on GT road over a similar distance, and you come across at least 6 'Cantt' areas. Indian generals, after retirement go back to their villages and farming. Our generals run civilian businesses.
Why can't military concentrates on doing what it is supposed to do instead of indulging in commercial and political activities? What we only ask is that when the nation has kept its defense as a major priority in terms of spending and respect over decades, why can't we at least live in peace?
Pakistan has become a country for the Generals. When they retire form the army they not only get jobs very easily but a hefty pension, houses in places like Islamabad and land in places like Sindh. We need to expose these issues and make people in the country aware of how much they are missing out on. It is quite disgusting that military officers get so many perks - free education, free health yet we have so many poor people which get zilch. Our Generals do not care about Pakistan or its people. They just want to maintain this lavish elite lifestyle at the expense of most Pakistanis.
Before I would have classed the military and our civilian leaders as equally as bad for Pakistan - nowadays I feel the military is worse for Pakistan. I do feel sorry for those lower lever brave jawans who are the real stars of the military and are treated as cannon fodder by the upper ranks.
As Pakistanis we must discuss how our elite - even military are ripping Pakistan off. It is not unpatriotic to question the activities of the military leaders. They use patriotism to hide theri greed. Over the last few years their greed has shown and more and more Pakistanis are willing to discuss.
Kiyani you deserve to be bashed - you are a traitor to Pakistan. You wont stand up for innocent Pakistanis who get killed. It is your job to protect Pakistans sovereignty.
It is a worry that so many Pakistanis avoid threads which are constructive criticism of the military. If we can for hours bash Zardari then why not those which control other areas of Pakistan?
