Is it the gold balls filled with "lac" and it has a paranda like thing at the back to balance the weight of the katmala?
yes you got it, it is multani or cholistani. Do you have any pics??
I have it somewhere in a locker in Bahawalpur..never worn it..never will..I just don't like it!
Re: Katmala/Mala Multani Style
Never even heard about it and googling didn't help either. It would be interesting to see if anyone has knowledge of this.
It's traditional and usually passed-down.. it's tiny balls of gold filled with "lac" and has layers.. it's balanced at the back with a heavy paranda-like attachment. My mother never wore it.. it's not really pretty either..
Re: Katmala/Mala Multani Style
Gina I agree with you to some extend, I don't like that 7 layer long heavy ones, but I have seen ppl waering 1-2 medium length laris(just below chest area) with out the long paranda at the back, either with round ring type earing or some cute jhumkis. It all depends on what/how do you wear with. I really like those traditional pieces that are passed on by mothers/grandmothers, my nani had lots of jewlery made by old dehli ke jewelrs, and it was all hand made, it is amazing!! unfortunaltly I didn't get any pieces :(
there is something so mystical about wearing those pieses.
Thanks for you help, I will post a picture that found from a recent wedding.
TK guys...oopss gals :):)
I just don't like the look of yellow gold :) I do have Multani Kangan.. they're antique..
Re: Katmala/Mala Multani Style
I have one multani kangan too :) WINK WINK i like to wear that sometimes :) do you wear yours?
Just wore it once maybe.. :) they even make Multani Bazubandh's...
Re: Katmala/Mala Multani Style
go you guys know how to attach a picture, so I have to have 25 posts to attach pictures?
I've never seen what was described and would really like to so someone post a pic.
also to post a pic when you click to post a response there's a menu on the right hand of the screen. Look under the pic of the paper and pencil labeled FEATURES. Click on IMAGE UPLOAD and a new window pops up, browse your computer and locate the file (jpeg and no spaces in the file title) and upload. Then a pink code will show up, paste it into your response window and that's how you add a picture.
