Hi I’m new to this but thought it would be a good place to get some answers about my family and my background, I was born and raised in England but my father is a English born Pakistani, I’m half white half Pakistani, and I’m really interested about where I’m actually from and want to learn more about my relatives and their culture because I’ve never been Pakistan.
I have a English given name and a English surname but I have 2 Pakistani middles name that my father wanted me to have, the names are Kasseem Hussain and just wondered if anyone on here could help me find out which tribe or what part of Pakistan am I most likely from and can you even tell by just my names?
I know it’s most likely Kashmir because most British Pakistanis are from there but I want to be sure because I’ve never met any Pakistani with the same names, I know it’s very important to know where my family is actually from in Pakistan especially when it comes to marriage so your help will be appreciated! Thanks, the names are Kasseem and Hussain
Re: Kasseem Hussain name origin? Trying to find out where I'm from!
Welcome! Salaam!
Name alone is not enough to trace someone's actual background. Some family names which have roots in various tribes give a clue to general province where one may (at some point) have hailed from, but that is not definitive either.
Have you tried to ask your dad about all of this? He would be the best and most accurate source of information.

If I may suggest, the spelling for Kasseem is not right, you may want to write it as Qasim,
There were a lot of People relocated to England when the Mangla Dam was built on the Jehlum River in the 50's, they ended up in Bradford, are you in that area?
Re: Kasseem Hussain name origin? Trying to find out where I'm from!
What do u mean it's not spelt correctly? That's how it was spelt on my birth certificate, so did my dad or mum not know how to spell it? because wen searching the name it says qasim can spelled a number of ways not just that way u said, or are u saying there's 2 ways to spell it a English way and a Pakistani way I don't get u. And I'm from the Yorkshire area close to Bradford so my grandparents could be from there were u said and my father was born in England so I'm guessing my grandparents came to England around the 50/60s. Thanks for the reply

You've got very first-namey sounding middle names. It's like someone with the middle name Peter Jacob asking what part of Europe he might be from. If you know what is the last name of your paternal grandparents, then it's a lot easier to guess what part of Pakistan you might be from. Keeping in mind that within the subcontinent a lot of migration does occur, especially before and after partition.
