I Have seen a Karma outfit tht I want to get made for my wedding day, problem is I am from London an no karma in London:(
I have no relatives in Lahore either
There is a lady who I get my outfits made from in London who has quoted me £2000 for the outfit, when the original is going for $3000 on the Karma website
What I wanted to ask was has anyone brought a bridal from the karma website? if so how well do they handle there online orders?
do u think I should stick with my lady who is charging me £2000 or take a gamble an order online?
i can't believe she's charging more than the original. she obviously has contacts in pakistan so could she be commissioned to order the original from them on your behalf and get someone to keep checking it? you could then just pay her £200 or something for her services.
i'm sure there are some Lahore based guppies who could even do that for you. you could organise it with karma - pay them directly and let them know you have a friend who will be checking up on it for you.
or lastly - just get a copy from one of our own bazaar designers.
not only that but that lady is probably pocketing £1000 for herself - i doubt it would cost more than £1000 to get copied.
My cousin got a Karma design copied from Lahore...and it was literally better than the original...I think she paid 60,000 rps for it....If someone is doing it for you than I'd say 100,000 is the very maximum they should charge!
Sara yes she is reliable and has a good reputation, I have been getting clothes from her for a while now.
Stoppit, thts a very good point u made about paying the lady £200 commission an getting the original outfit. I will call up Karma tomorrow an find out more about their online oders. I have decided on the red an purple outfit same as the one sumorani wore :)
I was thinking getting the top made in navy/purple velvet what do u think?
^i don't remember **exactly **what it looks like (to comment about the velvet), can you post a pic?
but i think that dress has been copied a lot and very well, too - so personally i wouldn't be comfortable paying 2grand for it. what's holding you back from having a copy made? i'm only saying this because i know you didn't want to spend so much.
I dont know if you know that Karma is also available in Karachi
If I was in your place and I know which dress I want I would let a relative to go to the boutique and select the jorah and pay because the charge you less in Pakistan. The price difference can be alot believe me.
But you know better if you have relative who can do this for you or not.
^cool alishaht, thatnks:) - it was for CE mainly so you can pm us both (i'm interested as someone else i know might want a karma copy and while my designer guy could probably do it, she may want to go with someone who has copied karma before).
but yea, i think CE should try AW or Saira or my guy.. or this person you speak of. Will save £1000 or more.
stoppit check out the link what do u think? sumorani said she has seen the same outfit made in navy and it didn’t look nice so am not sure now
some people have claimed tht its there work but I dont believe it is
mayb I need to go an bargain with the women, if I can get it down to £1500 do u think its worth it? I trust her completely an know she will do a good job
^ok, that pic is not looking good to me :(. have you got one of the real outfit, i need to see that :)
Purple and red are really hot together. Or so is a dark electric blue/purple but i think navy will make the whole thing dullish. sumo is probably right.
well the original is £1,850 and i'm sure if you get someone to get it from pak for you, it can be haggled down, hence £1,500 is still a lot but not so bad if you don't have any other choice.
great! i thought it was that one but just wanted to be sure. i think velvet in a bridal is always risky and it takes a good designer to incorporate it. i think if you just have the shirt in velvet it will look out of place with the rest of the fabrics in this case.
i think what you need to do, if you want to change colour's, is go to a fabric shop and get swatches of reds/purples/blues and put them together. the combination's that work will immediately jump out. then give those swatches to whomever is making your dress :)
it might be that there is a red that will go nicely with navy just not this shade :)
I went to karma outlet here in Lahore a month ago for a Guppy who wanted this bridal outfit for her sister.I had brought them down to 175k for this one when they originally quoted me 375K initially.they told they have a 30% off offer running that week.that Guppy never told me abt it though but i have been getting calls from karma since them which i dont attend any more
