I got his berry and turquoise and aubergine sharara made into a shalwar kameez it's pretty! It has feroza's on it.. but the peach and turquoise one still has my heart =(
I also fell in love with Faiza Samee's creations =( she had a uff so pretty deep pink and blue lehnga!
And the sad bit is I couldn't decide on anything.. I need a buddy to help me just pick one out!
ooohhhh..mash'allah the berry colour looks completely gorgeous...I wish I had seen that when I was there :)
Faiza Samee had alot of a new stuff when I was there....the deep pink and blue lehengha you saw...was it displayed on a mannequin by any chance because I think remember seeing it there as well? If it was then I catually fell in love with the same outfit!
Yup! Ziggy that's the one! Must say the kaam on Faiza Samee's outfits was absolutely stunning ( so were the color combo's) I still chose the berry bridal from Umar Sayeed cuz I have a ruby n amythest set that'll go well with it!
you definitely did NOT go wrong with the Umer Sayeed number...it's definitely worth every penny by the looks of it. :) Will the duppata be just as heavy as the one that accompanies the sharara outfit?
Thank yew! I actually wanted less "kaam" on the dupatta, but my fiance wanted it "just the way it is" Oh he's fab(Umar Sayeed) ziggy anything he took out I'd flip for! I think i'm going to let him do my main baraat dress too.
The whole process has been so confusing! Karma/Hsy/Faiza Samee/Umar Sayeed!
I don't think it will hurt at all to have a heavy duppata in this instance...I was completely wowed by the outfits I was shown. I had my meeting with his brother, who was so sweet and patient. I basically didn't leave until he had shown me everything he had to show including the stuff that was still in the kaar khana.
He left us near the end of the appointment and I pratically went beserk..lol... and started to rummage through all the outfits including the ones in the glass cabinet...it was hilarious.
The thing is that you only really appreciate his work when you see the kaam up close and notice how much time and detail has gone into making one of his outfits :)
I can imagine how confusing it can be...I pratically went mental after i had visited all of the designers in karachi...it can be tough at times when you have a decison to make...
^ It is a little tiring running from here to there which is why you need plenty of time when it comes to shopping for weddings, but there is no doubt when I say it's plenty of fun :)
The traffic ufff! Yeah Umar showed me nearly everything he had..it got pretty late and I was exhausted! But it's true once u look at the work closely u're bound to fall in love, and what I love the most is it's not OTT and gawdy..not gold/silver or glittery. The thread and stone-work looks really pretty.
^ Hey Gina/Ziggy - I'm incredibly envious of your shopping trips, sounds a blast.
Slightly off the point, I'm assuming you girls had to make appointments with all the designers before going to see them. Did you make these before your travel to Pakistan or once you got there. Does one need to make appts if we just want to see the formals and not the bridals.
Also what was the turnaround for your outfits Gina, which are simply gorgeous!
^ tania44 - Tha majority will rerquest that you make appointments with them prior to meeting with them. I guess it will depend on the designer and how busy they are when you request an appointment.
The longest I had to wait for one was 3-4 days, so I don't think you'll have to make them before you travel to Pakistan. They will more than likely ask you to make an appointment even if it's just formal wear...
It would be best to find out in advance if a particular designer you want to meet is in the country or not...i've found on numerous occassions where a designer had gone abroad on holiday / fashion show, so it helps to know in advance...
Tania, yes u do need to make appointments (which usually are made within 3-4 days) I keep a diary, otherwise i'd go insane! Of the colors/cost/appts etc.
The one Iman Ali's wearing is 54,000 and the berry one is 120,000 the work is detailed threadwork and semi-precious stones.
Ziggy next time we go together, I need a decision-maker and we're dragging SGC too and ofcourse Silsila's mother!
^ that would be awesome...I wish I had you guys when I was there recently =<
Of course Silsila's mother would be a key addition to the group...I could really use someone with excellent bargaining skills with some of these designers!
Thanks Ziggy/Gina - really useful to know. I can't wait to go now after you girls have teased us with all your beautiful outfits. However, I am the most undecisive person I know, so can't imagine it being a pain-free experience.
