Guys! No gosht, no keema, nothing! gotta be totally veggie, and no potatoes either (low starch/low carb)!
You are asking for a miracle then. Once karailay were served as bhaji at a friends home. I could not swallow even the first bite.

really? i think my mom does. so why cant u peel karelas?
Well, many people eat them for health benefits and if you peel you lose most of the nutrients from the vegetable. Plus the outer layer is very edible and won't taste as bitter if karela is cut and cleaned when it's dry and no water is added to the dish.

if you're eating it for health reasons then don't deep fry or add a lot of spices. Just cook it on high heat in little oil until it's a little crispy and then add some salt and pepper. You can also eat a small piece everyday, it really improves health!
Re: Karela
My ammi has always cooked them by peeling first. I dont like karelay so dont care how they are cooked.
Re: Karela
ira, even my mom only cooks peeled karela but i learned the other method from a tv chef. I tried her method and it really worked!
Re: Karela
i luv krela wiv gosht or chick ,qeema
my mum cooks tasty krela gosht
Re: Karela
then make karela with daal or something....or add lots of tomatoes & onions chopped up fresh to the karela so you have a 50/50 ratio, so its more tasty that way than straight kerela...
what about lean chicken meat? Can you do that? or turkey?
Re: Karela
I made some today, bhindi-pyaz style but not deep fried and with littel oil. Not bad!
