Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

:bism:

وَالْفَجْرِ {1}
[Pickthal 89:1] By the Dawn
وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ {2}
[Pickthal 89:2] And ten nights,
وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ {3}
[Pickthal 89:3] And the Even and the Odd,
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ {4}
[Pickthal 89:4] And the night when it departeth,
هَلْ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ {5}
[Pickthal 89:5] There surely is an oath for thinking man.

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

"There surely is an oath for thinking man".

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

Peace Aqeel,

I would like to read more. Plz share more info (if any).

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

I can put the whole Surah, if u want..... its very intresting how at first ALLAH gives us some hints and invite us to ponder over the oaths mentioned. Then he goes on telling how he sent his azaab on qoom-aad and samood, and what he has done to ferro. Then he tells us why he sent azaab on em because they were rebelliousness and they made great mischief.
Then He starts talking about how Humans dont follow his path and complain ALLAH has humlated em. ALLAH tells what he is gona do with these humans on day of judment. Then he talks to good souls يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ {27} رْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَرْضِيَّةً {28} enter among his devotees and enter Jannah. You will enjoy reading it with translation :)

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

I think he asked information related to karbala with Surah Al Fajer.

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

^Imam Hussein is Quran e naatiq....tht is to say that he was embodiment of the ideals of the Quran.......read hadith of saqalain....where the Prophet SAWW said that his progeny and Quran shall not separate each other till the day they meet the Prophet on the day of judgement at Kauthar.....they r to be seen, read, and understood in conjunction.....one without the other is incomplete.....

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

Very well but how this Chapter is realted to Karbala?

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

^try and research the details of the event of Karbala.....particularly the events surrounding the final night which was the night when Quran was heard from the tents of the family of the prophet as the bees r heard humming close to a hive ....... Simply putting it.....you may read these verses of al fajar in the light of the events of that night.......is any better manifestation of the holy Quran than those whom Allah purified, attached to the divine scripture, and asked for their love as a wage?

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

And why cant it be associated to the AshraY we have in ramadan ?

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

^good point......exegesis link it to the last 10 nights of Ramadan as well......particularly the odd nights aspect links with laylatul qadr......and the oath part links to Karbala.......I m severely restrained as I am pretty much always typing on my phone......I will in near future try to bring to attention some interesting, related traditions, iA.....

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

conjecture and extrapolation

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

^ it will be great if u cud shed some light on the verses or direct us towards a better direction in terms of traditions?.......

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

Peace,

By the ten (10) nights are usually understood the first then nights of **Zul-Hajj. **Surah Al Fajr is one of the earliest of the Suras to be revealed, probably within the first ten in chronological order. Its mystic meaning is suggested by contrasts, contrasts in nature and in man's long history. Thus does it enforce the lesson of Faith in the Hereafter to "those who understand".

Man's history and legendary lore show that greatness does not last and the proudest are brought low. For enforcing moral and spiritual truths, the strictest history is no better than legend. Indeed all artistic history is legend, for it is written from a special point of view.

Man is easily cowed by contrasts in his own fortunes, and yet he does not learn from them the lesson of forbearance and kindness to others, and the final elevation of goodness in the hereafter. When all the things on which his mind and heart are set on this earth shall be crushed to nothingness, he will see the real glory and power, love and beauty, of God, for these are the light of the Garden of Paradise.

Re: Karbala and Surah AlFajar,

That cud very well be ramazan but which ashra ? and why follow the oaths by saying "There surely is an oath for thinking man" ?
