Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

Staff Report

KARACHI: The construction work on the “Floating Kitchen” project, which will also be called “Majestic Ship”, is in full swing on the shore of Sea View in Defence Housing Authority.

It is officially learnt that the “Floating Kitchen” is envisaged to be the world’s first stationary ship that will look like a cruise ship on which international foods will be served. Hopefully, this landmark project will be completed by mid-2006.

Talking to Daily Times on Tuesday, Defence Housing Authority Development Director Col Asif Jamal said the construct work had been started four month ago and that the land required for the project had been reclaimed.

He said that a group of overseas Pakistani entrepreneurs, with a rejuvenated vision to promote Pakistan as an investment friendly country, had embarked upon the unique venture in the country, i.e. “Floating Kitchen”, a mega entertainment ship being built on the shores of Karachi with the help of the DHA.

The “Floating Kitchen” project is located near the Village Restaurant at the seashore.

The earth filling has been completed and iron pillars are being erected by the contractor. “Karachiites will soon have the luxury of dining in a ship without making a journey by sea, calling at various ports. If they want to have a feel of the splendor, grandeur majesty, décor and dignity of the legendary Titanic, that too without any fear of sinking, they can just board the ship to be known as ‘Floating Kitchen’,” said a spokesman for the Defence Housing Authority, Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Rafat Naqvi, while talking to Daily Times.

He said that as soon as people entered the ship, its ambience would take them to a new world of experience. Mouth-watering delicacies to be prepared by expert chefs would taste somewhat different, he added.

The spokesman said that the success of the “Floating Kitchen” would help trigger a domino effect, especially among overseas business entrepreneurs, who would take a fresh look at Pakistan as a land of opportunities while adding a new feather to the DHA’s cap.

A site engineer said it was a unique project in Pakistan and was also an old demand of the people for that kind of a project.

He said the “Floating Kitchen” would provide all kinds of foods and families would enjoy by visiting the “Majestic Ship”.

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

i wish they did something about the beggars in the city before they made such lofty plans
this is total fazool kharchi

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

this is made by foreign investors, who are making a business in pakistan. no one will give up on there business and give all the money to beggers. thats the gov. job.

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

hmm i c

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

irem bibi will you sell your car and distribute the money to poor beggars? how about doing ghar ka kaam on your own and giving the money spent on luxuries like servants to poor beggars again?

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

there's a big difference between having what is required and spending extra

we all know that a car is required in this time and age but spending thosuands of dollars to get rims on it is called fazool kharchi just like a kitchen is required but having something like this is called fazool kharchi

and the suggestion about the worker is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard because irem is actually helping that girl out by keeping her off the streets

if irem and her family didn't hire that girl she would be on the streets begging everyday and by having her do the work she is off the streets and earning her money the right way

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

khatmal, and a floating kitchen wont employ people and generate revenue for the society? a car to transport one person - necessary in a 3rd world country? i think not.

here's an idea to save beggars - why not turn them into slaves in rich peoples' homes?

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

queer it won't employ poor people it'll only employ people with degrees

and why would you want to make someone a slave and that too in a rich person's house... now that is what I call cruelty

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

and offcoarse a car is needed... why don't you walk all the way from one end of delhi to the other under the burning sun

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

This gives me an idea. Someone in Pakistan should open up a few soup kitchens for those in need.

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

Will you provide funding for that?

Besides which, the Edhi foundation already serves hot food to those in need in Pakistan.

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

^ may Allah (SWT) provide me with an opportunity and taufeeq to take part in such endeavours (and let it be in the best of my interest in dunya and akhirah), ameen

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

khat,

only people with degrees? the waiters, the folks who does the dishes, the clean up people - degrees? i dont think so.

walking isnt the only other option to driving a car. there is something called public transport which the majority of the people use. driving a car to work is a luxury in a 3rd world country.

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

queer

dont you have anything better to do on this board than to pick on my posts? :konfused: seriously, find a better use of your time :k:

my selling my car and distributing the money to beggars is not going to change the system

for the system to change, the approach of the management of the country has to change and the approach of spending money on national luxuries has to go, we have to take care of basics of ROTI, KAPRA aur MAKAAN first

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

oh yeah the usual.. i wont do anything but i will whine about others and the system.

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

how do you know what i do and dont do...? :) dont make any assumptions. its not necessary that i need to tell everyone about everything i do, and certainly not you :p

and yea the usual, queer picking on irem's posts. exactly. THE USUAL yawn

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

i hope its affordable :-/ i dont want to pay 200 rupees for a chai!

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

where is the assumption, irem? you drive a car to work. you have servants. these are luxuries in a 3rd world country where 40% of the population lives for under a dollar a day. but a floating restaurant is suddenly a big luxury spending and is insensitive to beggars.

Re: Karachiites could soon dine in a ‘Floating Kitchen’

queer lol

i dont have the stamina to carry on this debate with u

bye
