Are there any safe places to go in Karachi right now or is it too risky?

The cantt, defence, DHA, Clifton areas are pretty safe. Overall the city is as safe as any other mega cosmopolitan city in the world.

What ekumunng said. You'll most likely be in the posh areas for shopping and eating out anyway.....Clifton, Defence, Zamzama etc.all safe....just be mindful of yourself (no need to carry around a designer bag and flash your iphone or s5 in broad view lol) and you'll be fine. I talk to my relos in Khi daily and it's life as usual for them.
