The quality of the embroidery done at Kehkashaan market is probably the best. They're down the street, I think, from Gulf.
They will do perfect knock-offs of Karma, and other such heavy designs.
In Bridal Season, they will charge 4000 for kaam (that was 3 yrs ago when I was there). Then you give more money to get the thing stitched.
I think their rates are way more reasonable when it is NOT shaadi season.

Oh and if you schedule your trip for the 1st week of June, that's when all the stores in Karachi have their sales.
I got everything half off at Exclusive around that time, and we were all over Tariq Road, and they have a bunch of small no-namer type of boutiques - mom/pop type shops where they do pseudo-designing.
I think nearly each ready made, embroidered, nicely designed outfit cost me in the neighborhood of 1000 ruppees each. I'm talking about fancy stuff I can wear at a shaadi.

Can someone give me an idea of how much a tailor in Karachi would typically charge for stitching a shalwar kameez suit, done with zipper, pippings etc, and how long it takes them per outfit?
