you may know the proper British meaning and history of the word HOWEVER language is constantly changing and every culture/country comes up with its own meaning of the word.
ex. Fag in america- home sexual while in England a cigarette. Huge difference.
It's perfectly fine except to posers who get caught up on being snobs knowing the "real" meaning.....There are better things to be snobby about.

The irony you missed is that it is a site that calls itself snobs yet has such a faux pas, which is amusing, almost as amusing as the institution known as urdu dictionary board :) had it been some avg joe caling it high tea, I would'nt bother, but this is just an example of the wannabes of Pakistan who end up becoming caricatures of the west, often observed in burger parties and hangouts in Pakistan. As they say naqal kay liye bhi aqal ki zaroorat hoti hai.
PS: you may have taken the statement about poseurs in my post to you as an attack on you. It was not, it was taking a mickey outta the karachisnobs.com site.

The term more commonly used in US is Hazing, ragging seems to be more common in Pakistan.
ahh good old fashioned fraternity hazing…reminds me of the fun times of undergrad 
The only good thing about hazing is that usually you are too wasted to remember much of it
