Hey everyone. So I’m a longtime lurker but I decided it was finally time to post something and I have a serious dilemma. I’m hoping you guys can help as many of you live in Pakistan.
My family is going back to pakistan after a very long time in a few weeks. We’ll mostly be in Punjab for most of the stay but a close relative is getting married in karachi while we are there. We had initially plan to take a short trip to karachi for the wedding. However, with the recent waves of violence though out the city, my parents are having second thoughts. We really do want to attend the wedding but my parents fear the worst. We need to decide in the next couple of days whether we are actually going to go.
What would you decide in this situation? It would be great if someone from karachi could pitch in with the state of affairs there and how safe it really is.
depends where in the city of Karachi you go to...posh areas are fine i guess. be careful though because one guy from the UK on a visit to Karachi was killed the other day when he resisted a robbery attempt on him.

Personally, I'd go.
Family down from Clovis, CA to celebrate Eid.
Another left back to London after spending 3 weeks.
Tonnes of people from the Masjid who could live anywhere they wished to but stick around.
Kajol: there is no guarantee of city situation. most of the time political parties only target to opposite party worker . but recent wave of violence suggest that target killer are not discriminating regardless of affiliation.
i think, my understanding will help you make good decision.
I replied to her question, "What would you decide in this situation?"
you don't have to embarrass yourself in every thread. :)
Sweet.
Okay, So lets analyze what was more insightful for the OP.
This?
follow the instincts.

How does such an answer help generate more traffic for a forum you're affiliated with?

That’s one of the things my parents are afraid of. They’ve been hearing stories of people being robbed at gunpoint in Karachi, especially people from abroad.
As for the area…I think the wedding’s taking place in Clifton/Saddar. I don’t really know much about Karachi. Are those considered posh areas?
Yeah. My relative in karachi is saying that people are still visiting despite the violence but my parents are still debating whether to take the risk. It would be great to go but we’ll see. I think it’ll ultimately come down to what’s happening to Karachi in the next few weeks.
The fact that there have been reports of killings of people not affiliated to the parties is so scary. The political situation seems so volatile that I guess no one is safe anymore.
LOL. It may have to come down to that. Videoconferencing while decked out in our fancy clothes.
i’ve many of my relatives in Clifton and they all say it’s safe there. i think you never know when situation will get out of hand so one must be mindful of that. i’ve heard a few serious terrorism related incidences taking place in Saddar area.
i’d strongly suggest that if your visit isn’t that necessary, avoid it for now. if you have to go then you be very careful. Allah is the best protector but you have to take the precautions. Good Luck and fee amaan Allah.**
