Re: KARACHI-KURRAACHEE-KOLACHI

Is that national stadium in the background, in that Agha Khan pic?

Also, where is the Bin Qasim temple located?

Its probably just the surroundings of Agha Khan hospital and complex.
National stadium is very close to it however. There is a small Rahat stadium in between two? Google earth will show it also.

Don't know if it is truly a temple but it is located in Bin Qasim Park at Clifton.

Arjay Uncle can correct me.

I had a nice walk at 3.00 AM at this park when I was there for a short trip. Only few chowkidars were there. Very well built and had lots of flood lightnings.

  1. **The background of AKUH is NATIONAL STADIUM, KARACHI which is just across the road...which goes towards the two flyovers...one leading to Habib Ibrahim Rahtoola Road to Shahrah-e-Faisal passing by PNS-Karsaz. The other leads to Gulshan-e-Iqbal/Expo Centre & Hasan Square. You can clearly see the grid poles with flash lights at the NSK. **
  2. Its not a Temple...though its located at the fag end of Bin qasim Park and not a part of it..technically. Its JEHANGIR KOTHARI DOME built by the Parsi nobleman Jehangir Kothari in 1912 as a landmark to the Clifton and sea-side. It is the most filmed location of the Pakistani Movies since 1960. There have been umpteenth shootings of the famous movies and songs at JKD by Waheed Murad, Kamal, Shabnam, Mohammad Ali, Zeba, Nadeem, Deeba, Rani, Shamim Ara, Darpan, Santosh Kumar, Babra Sharif...and many more including the shooting of JINNAH the movie--of a scene where Christopher Lee (as Jinnah) and Vinny (as Jinnah's daughter) did a segment....JKD is the integrated part of JEHANGIR KOTHARI PARADE ( a long passage which is walkers area from the Park Towers side entrance to BIN QASIM PARK...and rather a long walk...all the way upto a point landing at the middle of the park.

Typical disdain that I drive past that area almost every day--but its been 30-40 years since I walked on that Parade and climbed JKD !

Khush Rahein...
