I was in Karachi three years ago and the all the years before then too. This is definitely the road I think it is.
I used to go to Sandspit pretty much every weekend with my family. It was lotta fun, I miss it here living in the midwestern United States, where closest thing to a beach is a lakeside.
I hope I can go back to Karachi City this summer, inshallah.

Karachite yaar, I don’t have any more pics here but on my website and they are quite old. If u have them then post them here. Problem is that when I went there I didn’t take pictures as I wasn’t sure if I would be captured by police for taking pics and then taking them outside. :>

APWA college is near the Nazimabad flyover if I am not mistaken. hum to further North meiN shaadi hall walay ilaqay meiN rehtay thay kiyoonkay seeti bajanay ka shoq kum aur desi khanay ka shauq zeyada hai. waisay hum bus soongh kar paiT bhar liya kartay thay.
Khanjii, Apwa College is on t/ corner of Karimaba bridge which would connect Karimabad to Lalukhet. I think you might be thinking of Sir Syed Colege in Nazimabad. I have quite a few relatives in North around yur vicinity!

FunkyDesi baji, Oh I remember now. How can I forget that college near 7-C bus stop. My jugrafia is not very good about Karachi as sometime people say to me do you know that memon masjid or gol market and I am like "yeaaaah" or maybe it was a case of "ghar ki murghi daal baraber" so kabhi ghor nahiN kiya ;-)
"purani jeans" is indeed a good song and always reminds me of college days although we had strict college dress at the PAF faisal base.
Muni, it's not that strict but it's like you are unsure and want to avoid everything that can put you into trouble.
