Unfortunately, Karachi is Beirut now, 1980s Beirut. Javed Chaudhry summed it up really nicely. I still remember from 1980 when we used to watch news about Beirut almost everyday on PTV. News about firing, bombing, people being killed. ![]()
Re: Karachi is Beirut now, 1980s Beirut.
Choudry sahab thandi lassi pee-o tay jaan banawo.
Karachi is much more than the areas he is talking about. The areas he is talking about are all poor neighborhoods and comprise of small percentage of greater Karachi.
There is no comparison between what happened and why it happened in Beirut and ground realities of Karachi.
When people are dying in Kati Pahari , Qasba Colony , Liari , Sohrab Goth people are still enjoying their chicken tikka and kata kat in Meena Bazar , Kareem a Bad , Al-Azam , Hasan Square , Haidri , Nipa Chowrangi , Boat Basin , Tariq Road and many areas which are still islands of peace in that city of 20 million people. Karachi is more resilient than Beirut. Karachi is 5 times bigger in population than whole of Lebanon.
There is no need to be so skeptic about future or present of Karachi and Pakistan.
Pakistan and Karachi Qaim Rahnay k lee-a banay hain aur Inshallah hamaisha Qaim rahain gay. Ameen.
