I just baught an external modem (Aztech 56K USB) and have been getting 5KB/s speeds very easily. As long as your ISP supports V42bis (gonet does)...it should work GREAT. It costed 1500, worth every paisa. I'd recommed it very much.
One great feature (according to the box) it has is a Line Noise Filter. A must for our lines I guess :p .

Startet win2k SP4 last evening. In the mornin it was done.
130 meg....I am sure there must be few hrs when the connection was sitting idle. Still the average is 3KB/s

their D/L speed is very comparable if not better
i’m getting D/L speeds b/w 3 to 5 with Gerry’s, sometimes rarely goes belo 3
and surfing speed is xClent

Who---me, that's actually very interesting. I remember my PC back home had an Motorola Aztech 56k PCI modem too, but in my case it would always be slower that my hardware-based Rockwell 33.6k ISA modem. I guess external modems are really better, still I just pray and hope that I never have to rely on a dial-up connection
Anyway, try Brain.NET and compare it's speed with Go.net.pk.
