Karachi Fashion Week

Ok. This time I think Karachi Fashion Week should have been re-named skimpy-trashy fashion week…before you attack be for being too conservative, I just wonder is this what we mean by having progress in our fashion industry? I’ve seen that Pakistani fashion shows have become more daring but this is a tad too much. I can’t see any beauty in these clothes at all…looks so cheap.TWhat’s your take?

and this guy walked the ramp in his underpants…

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

Call me crazy but I am so happy to see this. Dont get me wrong, I would not wear a bikini top with a shalwar or a bikini top at all but I just like knowing we have the freedom to have shows like this, now it's up to the person on whether they want to wear such things or not.

Do you know the designer?

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

Fashion shows aren't put on for the public but for buyers from worldwide. Also they are more for highlighting the designers' creativity and ability than commercial appeal. An American buyer who owns a retail store in L.A. isn't going to buy stock of shalwar kameez or clothes that don't appeal to her market. People worldwide do wear clothes you see in the pictures, hence you see them on the runway.

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

its a slutty business after all :chai:

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

I don't really care if its slutty or not.
I do however think a few of those ramp outfits aren't much in the way of innovative.
I could've sworn you get stuff like that at the Sunday market!
Then again, I'm no fashionista.

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

^ who cares anyways?? :hehe:

PS…long time…

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

Haha been a while indeed bru…
Like I said in another thread; the usual suspects are still around :hehe:

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

You know on the ramp, the designers always show something that is of dramatic value and that happens all over the world. The ramp clothes r to show creativity of the designers and how wild he/she can get with the fabric and at the same time throwing in hints of possibilities you can get from them when you get their couture.

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

I don't mind the skin on show, God knows I don't.
I am however hijacking the thread because I just don't see much of 'creativity' or 'possibilities' up there.

Do you?

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

The only thing i like about these fashion shows are the models nothing else

and these dresses are pathetic to be honest

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

i m sorry i didnt even read yr post or any other at all except the very first one and only 1 pic from the ones posted. I was talking in general as i also always see ramp clothes to be def not something people of that society actually wear.

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

Oh I was never countering your statement. I agree that's what ramp fashion is about.

I was however commenting on this particular line up.
I mean sure, I see some nice outfits up there, I just don't think they're much in the way of original or creative.

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

Damn!, is this in Pakistan? are these Pakistani models????? "shock"

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

Just saw the rest of the pics. I wouldn’t even call them nice forget about them being innovative :nook:.

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

It sure isn't London, Paris or Milan that is for sure. The clothes are meh...

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

Stop being haters. The way the photography is kinda' ruined the feel of the dresses and all but everything under good lighting and photography can look presentable. Have you guys ever seen the NY/European runways? None of the stuff is wearable by any means, it's just styled and worn in a way that is dramatic and weird.

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

Wearable or not, what is so 'creative' about this collection? Looks like work by some GCSE (standard 10/11) textile students. And a lot of junk is also put on Western runways, good lighting and styling can only do so much to enhance the appearance of downright hideous and amateurish pieces.

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

No one is being a hater.

All we're saying is this stuff is not edgy or creative. Its not even styled or worn in a dramatic way.
You'll see this is any major city centre. A few years ago.

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

I agree about that part BUT being Pakistanis, I think we should support our fashion industry as much as we can (and it is getting a lot of support over recent years and I personally think we have one of the best fashion industries in Asia, aside from India Japan) and we shouldn't pick at every single flaw. Sure it's not perfect, it's even borderline tacky in some but whatevez. Plus, the fashion industry is one of the things that is showing the lightheartedness of our country. It's a refreshing change from the dengue/bomb blasts/firings/robberies/load-shedding we see and hear about every single day on the news.

Re: Karachi Fashion Week

You don't need to have tacky, revealing clothes, devoid of all style to be successful.. I can't and wouldn't want to support that.

Pakistani fashion is generally pretty unique and I'd rather have it stay that way.
