Re: Karachi - Current situation?

First and foremost, our condolences go out to the victims’ families. Too many people have lost their lives to indiscriminate killings in the city, and the need of the hour is to send a stern message to the criminals. The law and order must preside in order to restore peace in the city. We stand by the government of Pakistan and fully support their efforts to negate the threat of violence. We hope to see peace prevail throughout the city. It is simply in our best interest to see a safe and secure Pakistan. Our forces are fighting the terrorists on both sides of the border, and we hope to remain unified in regards to our peace objectives in the region.

Re: Karachi - Current situation?

Well, I am flabbergasted to see CENTCOM commenting on something besides Afghanistan. Especially on Karachi.

It did improve before the killings in last couple of days. But that may not mean much. Because criminals have either left temporarily (like Uzair Baloch etc.) or they are keeping low profile. As soon as this operation is over, they will return.

The violence in the last few days is related to Taliban and its allies like LJ/SSP. These 'pious' criminals have been pretty much spared the wrath of operation from rangers and police. In other words, this violence is not surprising at all given that our governments have refused to take any action against Taliban khawarij. In fact, they have allied themselves with Taliban. And after the killing of Hakeemullah, they appear to be furiously debating among themselves whether to severe ties with US and openly come out in favor of Taliban.

You could be right, but 6 of these 15 people belong to ASWJ.

Re: Karachi - Current situation?

Reaction.
There is a difference between killing of innocent people and killing of members of terrorist organization.

It was the responsibility of law enforcement agencies to stop/capture/kill likes of ASWJ and LJ from spreading hatred and violence against people just because of beliefs.
