Karachi Classified.

I have been to Karachi twice or thrice in my whole life. The last time I went to Karachi was just before I left for England.

Because of being exposed to only a certain group of people, this is how I perceived Karachi’s young generation. (I specifically talk about this social clan…)

  1. They have given their O levels and A levels and are waiting to go abroad.
  2. They have shoulder length hair irrespective of sex.
  3. They have a house in DHA.
  4. They all think dope is the next best thing after sliced bread.
  5. They think drinking is more of a fashion statement then a habit.
  6. They take these long drives at 12 o clock in the night to places like mubarik village…etc to smoke a few joints and then talk sheit ….
  7. They all know at least one model male/female in the fashion industry and brag about it all the time.
  8. Irrespective of gender all of them are as thin as Quaid-e-Azam.
  9. They all think that “Gulshan” boys and girls are really un-cool and……*%&^$%&.
  10. last but not least , they are quite rude to their parents.
  11. They are partying every weekend at a friends place.

This is what I have seen in Karachi , every time I have been there .
I would like to encourage and motivate Karachi guppies to come forward and enlighten me …..show me the different colors and flavours of Karachi’s society rather then what I have been experiencing.

Disclaimer: This post is not meant to ridicule or belittle a certain social group of people nor is it meant to put another group on the top of the hierarchy , It is a general perception of a set of ppl. The floor is open for any comments, ideas, additions, or slurs u want to make on the thread but not the author.

nice thread Poodenay_Ki_Chutney,

until sometime ago when i visited karachi only during vacations my impression of the city was that it was a very cool place where so much is going on all the time, and to some extent Poodenay_Ki_Chutney, i thought life out here was only the way you've described it, with no worries only fun, partying, concerts, long drives etc. I knew there were a lot f troubles, hardships and issues with life here but didn't know exactly how serious they were or how they affected the lives of karachi ppl in real practical 'non vacationing' or 'not enough financially privilged' lives.

the present situation out here is like that of a jungle! I can only thank God that he gave me enough strength to adjust here. there's vast class difference and the rich and the poor seem to be drifting farther apart every day; that has much to do with the economy etc but also with the people's attitudes and stuff.

talking about karachi physcally, one can say it huge!!! dirty, polluted, lawless! but it's also Pakistan's most modern city, greatest business centre, music, tv, fashion, showbiz centre. there's a lot of history and historic sites.

it's a bad place, with a lot of crazy ppl who care about their selves only and nothing else. there's little brotherhood and thin bridge between classes of society, people lable and dicriminate against each other and there's a sever shortage of honesty and sincerity. but, there are a lot of good ppl with kind hearts too im sure (but i haven't met many :D)

i guess it's a versatile place with many faces; i think no one can actually describe it...

karachi is the newyork of pakistan. and like in every big city, your will find different lifestyles in each and every corner. i have spent vacations in karachi and never experienced any of that. depends on what kind of crowd u choose to hang around with.

Nice insight Haris!

But as I live in Pakistan too, I know the knit and grit of our society. Corruption, lack of sincerity, nepotism, poverty etc.

I was interested in the different class segments of KHI, (the young generation), My views are just of one group. I want to find out… do other groups exist, If yes what interaction do they have, what’s their lifestyle, what do they think of the people I have mentioned.

Someone who can classify them from Nazimabad to Defence. From bundo khan to café flo, from French beach to Hawksbay, from tariq road to sea view…

Catch my drift.:)

PKC: Aap thoray achay wale theek thaak logon main betha karein to aisi tension nahin ho gi na.

Gushan wale are hargiz not uncool…13D and uncool? :stuck_out_tongue:

I can help you start from North Karachi..instead of from Nazimabad…i am taking the spectrum and literally stretching it a little too far, aint i? and to tell you the truth, we are as bund-kebabs as they get :halo:

abay…bun-kebab…

Thats actually good, superior education in the form of O and A levels, and nice to see they have good aspirations. With only a handful of good tech colleges in the country, I dont blame them.

Very big generalization.

Karachi is a large city, try driving there and you'l find out. Dont call me when you get lost.

Atleast not every one of them is hooked onto niswar.

Proof?

Rest of the points, sheesh, why even bother answering them. Karachi has the most talented youth in Pakistan, other cities dont even come close. And no, I havent been to khi once or twice, I was born there, and went there every year in my summer vacations. If you want to bash something in Karachi, bash the dreaded weather in karachi, leave the kids alone.

yes, abysmal weather.

not that weather in the rest of the country is great, some areas maybe..but other cities have their climate issues.

Islamabad has the best weather. Its the humidity that makes it worse in karachi.

i've lived all over pakistan, and while we have close competition for second place, Karachi stands apart when it comes to the sheer stinkiness of its weather.

humid, annoyingly persistently hot, practically no spring, ineffectual, irritating winters (in which you're wondering whats the point and everyone else is shivering about in multiple jackets)

well... i dono much about karachi.. but i do know dat it is ahead of Lahore..

But most of what u said.. lies in the "high" society... and they are passing "rules" down to the lower society.. through colleges and parties...

well lahore from what i can say.... well the general public is not dat far yet.. but in colleges... the enviroment is not much different in thinking... but acting in physical way.. well still behind..

Any way.. its not surprising.. since there is free avalability of Western movies and media .. wid no censorship... and that is only a "made up culture (well according to where im living).. so wid all these avalability.. the aim of the youth is to acheive what tey show in de movies.. and wouldnt be surprised if sex becomes more open.. as sale of alcohol is becomin normal....

anyway.. may allah give them hidayat.. and again.. these ppl are at de moment minority... so tehre are other type of ppl there..

I need to visit karachi to get an update..

Allah ahfiz

I shall leave ur kids alone .:)

I have quoted ur reply so that we have an on-line proof of ur intellect for the future karachi kids to come.

Next time u try to be clever dont get worked up like a 16 year old adolescent girl and follow some simple rules.

  1. read the whole thread.
  2. read the disclaimer if there is any.
  3. think.

every one doesnt come to GS to soil ur reputation , i.e if u have any.:)

cheebu: so u wont see this band of people in lahore?

KZ or bun kabab. Where is that in depth analysis of karachi's society? I am seriously thinking of shifting.:)

PKC…What kind of crowd did you hang out with in Karachi?..:nono1:

Birds of the same feather flock together, right? :hoonh:

Re: Re: Re: Karachi Classified.

go chew your niswar poodna_ki_chutti... I know youre just envious of Karachites, I dont blame ya cuz I figured out where you come from...

As for Karachi's youth, do not let this jealousy stop you boys...

seems as though u havent paid heed to my advice.:)

btw: how did u make a deduction that I was jealous from karachi's youth. I was born in karachi and would love to live there.

rephrased:I come from my parents but dont know where u come from.

Lajj:It was a cousin of mine who introduced me to these feathery birds.

i am supposed to be representing the karachi youth…:konfused:

having lived all my life in north nazimabad but having very close contacts with “the Karachi” PKC talks abt…i can tell the difference..

yes..i too am doing A level after havin recently done Oz..but somebody tell me where do i get dope or alchohol from? maybe if my parents had been less stricter and i had less respect for them i could have shouted back at them too…and maybe if i didnt follow my religin too much i too could have ended up dancing at the scool party to sean paul’s rhymes…

oh…right then…i must belong to the “uncool” gulshan boys and girls…
