KARACHI: A stampede killed 18 women and children when charity workers handed out free food to the needy in a crowded neighbourhood of Karachi on Monday, police said.
‘We have talked to the officials in city hospitals who have confirmed to us that at least 18 women and children have died in the stampede and dozens others have been injured,’ Karachi city police chief Wasim Ahmed told reporters.
‘The deaths were caused by suffocation and the stampede in one of the most congested localities of Khori Garden, where a charity was distributing free flour among hundreds of women and children during Ramazan,’ he added.

Why should the organisers be arrested. The police should have taken steps to control the crowd. The organisers were doing something good, this being the holy month. Only sad part is that it turned out so tragic.
Hope God gives peace to these individuals who met an untimely death.
^^^^For creating a situation which resulted in death of 20 people. It was responsibility of the organizer to inform police or install private guards so that mob like situation should not have created.
