So here’s a question for you…
Where did the design of our clothing come from?
Where did we get kurtay, shalwar, gharraray, tang pajamay?
Where did the handsome sherwani originate?
And why is everyone so reluctant to wear them?
Reluctant hmmm
I was reluctant to wear desi clothes since most
of them were sent by uncles and aunts etc from pakistan
and just were very ugly.
It was after I had to buy some for a friends mehndi
and I happened to be in pakistan when I saw the kewl
classy styles.
Its almost like if you did nto wear trousers since you
only were given the haggar polyester ones and then ran into
soem kewl polo chinos.
Now I am a proud owner of 2 saleem shais, and 3 khussas
4-5 good Kurta shalwaar suits, numerous vests
and my first choori daar recently.
Yeah, and I got mah sherwani when I got married.
I love desi clothes, if you get good ones and know how to
really wear them. They are very elegant.
I have been fortunate enough to see many different kinds of attire from all over the world....and I have yet to see anything as elegant and flattering as our formal wear.
Or anything as comfortable and modest as our casual wear. Fraudia has hit the nail on the head though, it must be worn as it was meant to be worn.
But nobody has cast any light on where these outfits came from.....
