Anybody ever taken any of them? I have taken their SAT test prep which was decent..i’ve heard princeton review was better…well, I just signed up for Medpass for $999 (its beyond me why they don’t just say $1000)…i’ll get 30 visits to the center with accesss to their video library and 7sets of lecture notes along with the QBook which contains practice questions…
Now I haven’t even entered med school yet…i will be going inshallah in June…but my mother(a doctor) thought it was a good idea for me to have some experience with the topics before i started…
Kaplan offers a wide variety of review options…from live lecture to online access to the video libraries…prices range from $8,500 to $500…and I have heard some rave reviews about their USMLE review courses…n i was wondering if anyone here ever took them
Didn't take the course or anything, but I used to work for Kaplan 6 years ago or so, and I got my relative enrolled to take the USMLE steps 1 and 2 courses there. He thought they helped a lot! also after talking to other foreign doctors, the comon opinion was that the courses are good "refreshers" and help a lot in a time-frame of 3 - 4 months before the actual exam! Also, just the fact that there're so many ppl there reviewing for the exams, it builds a community of practice and that helps in studying too.
Your situation is a lil different cuz you aren't even in med school yet. I've seen people who were done with first or second year of med school taking the courses while still in med school.
Best of Luck though... and just a market based opinion - for the USMLEs' you can't go wrong with Kaplan.
Talk to a doc or student in the school you are thinking about applying or desis who have done USMLE recently.they will generally be able to let you know which of the test guides are best. Almost all the people I know who did USMLE bought or borrowed one of t guides.
