kanparay

I want to hear from real doctors or med students on this.

What are kanparay???

I ha dthe pleasure of being afflicted with this thing my final year of high school. Right around prom time …joy! :smack: Everyone automatically knew it was kanparay. I had a sore throat, closed ears, a runny nose, allergic eyes, my voice was just weird, and oh yeah lumps under my ears on my neck. I figured out that it was mono, by doing reserach online. (Don’t ask why I didn’t go to the doctor).

Obviosuly I’m perfectly fine now, but I still wonder. What is kanparay? Is kanparay mononucleosis???

Re: kanparay

Re: kanparay

sara I know mononucleosis. But Kanparay is a desi name and i dont know about it. They symptoms you gave are of mono. Dont know what kanparay is. For some reason i thought kanparay was mumps though. Seems like you had mono and that is very common.

Re: kanparay

Sara516:

two completely different terms are being mixed here:

** kanparay**: MUMPS. This is an infection of your saliva-glands caused by a virus. Usually (at least in Holland) children are vaccinated against this, so the chance that you suffered from it is not very big.

mononucleosis: KISSING'S DISEASE or tapghuddy (in Urdu. Can anyone check the spelling?). This is an infection of your throat also caused by a virus, but a different one, the so-called Ebstein-Barr virus. Chances are you had contracted this, but it is in general a benign self-limiting disease.

Hope this clarifies things :--)

Re: kanparay

Is it the same as glandular fever?

Re: kanparay

^yes, mononucleosis = glandular fever

Re: kanparay

Why named 'kissing's disease'?

Re: kanparay

^ Because you get it from sharing germs. It’s not just from kissing, it can be from drinking from teh same glass or eating utensil or something

Nescio, I did research on the symptoms I had, and mono matched up with it. I don’t think it was mumps. I was born in the US so I probably was vaccinated against it. My parents kept saying it was “kanparay” not “tapghuddy”..
