Pak fast bowling is very good right now but Kaneria is not carrying the spin department. Shoaib Malik is pretty ordinary second spinner so the first spinner has to be really good for Pak to make sure they always capitalize on the start the fast bowlers have given them.
Usually spinners like Kaneria stick around because the country doesn’t have a better option. Pakistan does. Saeed Ajmal. He has been pretttty good in the ODIs and T20s. He deserves a good shot at Tests. He’s only played 5 tests so far.. I think he deserves more. He bowls intelligently.. has good variation.. and control.
this is exactly what I was thinking...maybe we should give saeed ajmal a second chance! he has been in really good form in the odis and t20s..hopefully he can deliver in test matches as well! I would even take that abdul rehman dude over kaneria!
*I have been harping on about this for the past 4 years, since the last England tour to be exact. God, it's been 4 years and we have been carrying the fat tard for no reason since then. Kaneria is NOWHERE near the class of Warne, Mushtaq or Kumble; His figures of 3 or 4 wickets for 150 odd runs are not fooling me (albeit they have fooled a lot of people over the years, so bravo Kaneria for leading people into believing you are an all time great).
We need a wrist spinner in the long run, but for now Ajmal would be a better option than fatty, specially since England hasn't seen too much of him.*
I agree with the game, Kaneria is not playing to his level, but would like to add that during the most memorable series where Kaneria did made a difference was when he had a counterpart like Afridi, Pakistan went on the tour to India and leveled the series with Inzamam being the captain the series and against England.
Every bowler needs a partner and he has none. I do not know how Ajmal or others can make the difference alone. Even in ODI and T20, Ajmal has Afridi by his side. Makes a huge difference.
People like Ramiz Raja are in love with Kaneria, but if you look at the stats, Aamir Sohail is correct. Kaneria gives away too many runs for the wickets he gets. You would think after several years in international cricket he would have gotten better by now but unfortunately he hasnt.
I think its a good move to drop him, and the selectors should look for a new leg spinner and groom him because I doubt whether Kaneria will ever become half the bowler Qadir and Mushy were.

At the very least, he will keep an end tight and not leak away runs like the second coming of Warne/Kumble/Mushtaq combined has done for the past few years.
