You can have sex with a slave in front of another slave? What the heck?
I don't know why it was continued after the Prophet's death for centuries (its still practiced today, except replace slave with house maid). But that doesn't make it halaal or an encouraged practice or something that can still be acceptable in today's world. How many stupid things happened after the Prophet's death, and are we to follow those actions of the muslim people? Or do we stay true to what the Quran tells us? The Quran tells us to stick to spouses, and what the right hand posseses. First of all, "right hand" is taken to mean slave, but I've come across some scholars that say it doesn't mean slave necessarily. Nevertheless, even if it does mean slave - look around you. Do you see slaves? Does this ayah mean we should keep slaves? Obviously not, because you have ayahs and also hadith's that tell you to set slaves free if they choose freedom.
Now, I want to know what slave would not want freedom? What slave woman would not want to have sexual relations with a lawfully wedded partner rather than someone who treats her like a side appetizer?
And also read closely the part of the ayah that says if the slave girl wants chastity, then give it to her.
So, in the wild rare event that you were to have a slave today, and logically speaking, chances are she wouldn't want to sleep with you unless you're Brad Pitt, which you're most likely nothing close to, then you have to respect that, and not sleep with her.

The Prophet showed thru his own example of setting free slaves. Did he have a slave harem? No. So, how can you justify stuff like that?

There is no such chronology. Banning of alcohol was explicit. Slavery was allowed, but not really encouraged or mandated. It simply was.
A sudden release of slaves would raise the question as to where they would go and what they would do. 24:33 is an open invitation for all slaves to "buy" their freedom...although references are scarce, I would wager only few opted to actually exercise this option.
Further, why would it have been banned? The alternatives, at least for captives, would have been genocide.
The slave trade, which is something different, is something Muslims did participate in during the imperial age, but often by circumventing Islamic law.

So lets evaluate the scenarios, shall we:
You have a slave. They want freedom. You have no choice but to give them freedom as per Quran's orders. You don't get your sex.
You have a slave. They convert into a believing muslim. You have no choice but to marry them with a nikkah. You get your sex, but you now have a wife. Not so exciting anymore, is it?
You have a slave. They don't want to be freed, and they want to be your sex slave. Okay, but that lady is one weird lady. Or circumstances are close to that of the end of the world. But how that woman thinks that by sleeping with YOU out of wedlock, she's helping herself, I have no clue.
You have a slave. They want to be set free. You dont set them free and instead have sex with them. You have sinned and most likely, deserve to go to hell.
Now, what other scenarios are plaguing your mind such that you wish to assert the right to have sex with slaves you don't have and that you'd probably be arrested for having in the first place?
Really there r things which r hallal but it didnt mean that Muslim have to adopt them .Islam is suppose to be for every time n region n thats why there r relaxations which applied for a time period but it didnt mean u have to adopt them .The best thing is to stop ones self from the sins which r clearlly forbiden by God in Hadith n Quran .
