Kamran Ashraff Retires

Kamran

Kamran Ashraff, Pakistan’s centre-forward, quit competitive hockey paving the way for a youngster to take his place in the forthcoming Asian Games.

The 29-year old who played the best of his hockey with Shahbaz and Tahir Zaman, the present national coach, scored 129 goals in 166 internationals. He figured in two Olympic Games (1996 at Atlanta, 2000 at Sydney), and two World Cups (1994 at Sydney, 1998 Utrecht) and as many as six Champions Trophy events, including the recent one at Cologne.

Another legend retires after a great career. His 129 goals in 166 internationals is a great records and it is hoped he will continue to be associated with the devlopment of hockey in Pakistan.
