Kamran and Umar Akmals mother suffers heart attack - the brothers to stay in NZ

KARACHI: Pakistan’s prolific Akmal brothers, Kamran and Umar, will stay in New Zealand with the national team instead of returning home to be with their mother, who suffered a heart attack in Lahore on Sunday.

According to a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman, Kamran and Akmal were told by their close family members that their mother was out of danger and that they should continue with the national duty in New Zealand. Even their mother insisted that the brothers stay with the team.

Both Kamran and Umar had started packing for home after learning about their mother’s illness. However, their mother’s condition improved overnight and she even talked to them.

Kamran, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman and his 19-year-old brother Umar have so far been the most prolific batsmen in the Pakistan line-up in the ongoing three-match Test series against New Zealand.

On his debut, Umar hit a sparkling century in the first Test and has since then struck two more fifties and is by far the best scorer from Pakistan in the series. Kamran has also contributed handsomely with the bat in the series that is levelled 1-1 and will be decided in Napier next week.

May Allah grant complete shifa to the ailing - Aameen.

It is obvious that they wouldn't be able to concentrate on cricket until they meet their mother. I think PCB should let them go for a few days.

^ True

May she make a full and speedy recovery..

if they go back then dude they cant participate in 3rd test coz the distance between NZ n Pak is way too much...it requires at least 2 days to go

May he get fast recovery (ameen) same for the akmals' mother.

Sometimes one has to sacrifice for more important thing in life. World wouldn't end if they can't participate in 3rd test.
