Kamran Akmal, the Pakistan wicketkeeper who is awaiting clearance by the PCB’s integrity committee, has been named in the country’s provisional 30-man squad for September’s World Twenty20. It is as yet unclear, though, as to whether Kamran was cleared by the committee. He had been summoned to appear before it on July 4.
Batsman Imran Nazir, who last played for Pakistan in February 2010, and allrounder Abdul Razzaq have also made the squad. All three players do not have central contracts.
In May, Iqbal Qasim, Pakistan’s chief selector, had said Kamran needed to clear himself of integrity issues before being eligible for selection for the national team. He had last played for Pakistan at the 2011 World Cup, but has been active on the domestic circuit and had played the inaugural Bangladesh Premier League earlier this year.
Akmal had come under the scanner when he was sent a notice by the ICC’s anti-corruption and security unit after the Nottingham Test against England in July 2010, seeking information about events related to the 2010 World Twenty20 held in the Caribbean. Akmal later claimed he has an ICC clearance letter that says there is no inquiry pending against him.
Re: Kamran Akmal makes World T20 provisional squad
I am more excited to see Imran Nazir's name then sad to see Akmal's name in 30 man squad. Good to see Razzaq in Squad too. Hopefully Azam will play few games
Re: Kamran Akmal makes World T20 provisional squad
Why our cricket is in reverse gear, we use to have Wicket keepers like Saleem Yousaf, Moin Khan and Rasheed Latif, why are we stuck with Kamral Akmal, have Pakistan stopped producing geniune wicket keepers who can keep wickets and have ability to earn reputation of finisher??? why do we still have to continue with the keepers who is known for dropping more catches then actually catching them and playing one fine knock after every ten???

For some reason our nation/"elite" has developed too much liking for this number... Afridi, Kamran, Zardari ;)
Re: Kamran Akmal makes World T20 provisional squad
It sounds like some Political friends/family of Kamran Akmal have gotten to Iqbal Qasim. Either a threat or a rishwat. That's why he is calling him the best wicket keeper option in the country. Sad case of Pakistan Cricket.
Already Iqbal Qasim's tenure is proving to be another shameful era. Recalls of Mohammad Sami, Faisal Iqbal and now Kamran Akmal? How we keep going "@$$ backwards", only in Pakistan.
