Zulqarnain Haider has picked up a hairline fracture to the little finger in his right hand. He’s likely to miss the rest of the series, and guess what? Akmal will take his place. But that’s not the bad news… the real bad news is that once Haider misses the series, he’ll be out of the picture and hence unlikely to make a comeback into the Pakistan team… out of sight, out of mind!
PCB selectors (and fans) have very short-term memories. By the time the next series comes along, everyone will have forgotten about Zulqarnain.

Okay, it needs work. But** it’s a tough gig competing with the comedy genius that is Ijaz Butt**, chairman of the Pakistani Cricket Board, who has overseen a selection policy which is harder to understand than Chinese algebra.
Akmal, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper, was England’s most effective player at Trent Bridge by a significant margin. He dropped three catches (including England’s centurion, Eoin Morgan, on 23), and missed the simplest of stumpings. Retained largely for his batting, he also bagged a pair. He would surely have wasted Pakistan’s reviews too, had there been any remaining to be wasted by the time he arrived at the crease.
It was the worst performance by an international wicketkeeper since, err, Akmal’s display against Australia in Sydney this January. And yet Ijaz and his crew never considered that this punchline of a cricketer should be stood down. Instead, it was Danish Kaneria who got the axe.

Many people should change in the team. Kaneria was one of the sure ones to go. Agreed. But Kamran Akmal didn't deserve to be in England tour at all after what he did in Australia.

Yes i agree, actually i have been saying in the match threads that both Akmal brothers need to go, so are most people, but you are trying to give it an ethnic angle.

All the years Kamran Akmal has been torturing us with his keeping skills, he has never once gotten injured. Just our luck. I think both Mohammad Sami & Kamran Akmal are the curse on Pakistan cricket fans They never get injured and always get lucky in playing 11 selection.
