i have heard abt amla oil..it works the best...
Re: Kalonji Oil
hey afsoon, if you're losing hair from stress and not eating properly, i'm afraid no particular external remedy is going to get you your hair back. recently i lost a LOT of hair, other people can't really tell because i wear it out but when i do tie my hair up, it's obvious to me that my ponytail is so thin. so i was going crazy trying to get my hair to stop falling so much when i had a shower etc. anyway, i implemented a bunch of things into my routine and things are MUCH better now with a normal amount of hair fall. Obviously, it will still take months before new hair grows to replace what you have lost.
the hardest part is finding some way to manage the stress so it doesn't affect you so much physically. if you don't already, start taking a multivitamin (you can buy particular ones that are for healthy skin and hair) but i don't think there is any need to go overboard with supplements. you also need exercise for good circulation, so try and fit something in if you don't already. massaging your head will also help the circulation in your scalp, so using any of these oils for a scalp massage will be great for both your scalp and keeping the rest of your hair in good condition. it's also a good idea to eat some extra protein. i went to pakistan for a month earlier this year and lost a lot of weight, i'm pretty sure this was the main cause of my hair falling, as hair falls 2-3 months after the period of stress/weight loss. to increase my protein intake, i started eating a decent amount of almonds everyday and this is something that i believe is vital for me to continue doing during my next PK trip. lastly, it's always a better idea to wash hair with cooler water and a gentle shampoo.
i hope things improve for you!
Re: Kalonji Oil
I was hoping to find kalonji oil at a regular grocery store or organic foods store, but alas, no luck. I guess I'll check out the local Indian place.
Also, kalonji is not onion seed but it is often mistaken for that. It also goes by the name "black cumin" though, again, there is no connection to cumin.
Re: Kalonji Oil
I don't have any hair loss problems, but I need to try something for a healthier scalp. Thanks a bunch!
Re: Kalonji Oil
u guys are all liars, kalonji did nothing fo rme!!! ![]()
^ Lol.
Stoppit, thank you soooo much for the advice/tips. Here is the thing with me: I weigh less than I should, I stress and fret over everything and anything. I don't eat as much as I should and sleep escapes me most of the time. Oh, and I did mention that I actually hate meat? :(
I know my health won't get any better (hair loss, weight loss, skin problems) if I don't start eating well... but that is just it, I can't force myself to eat no matter how hard I try. I have tried taking mult-vitamin pills but after a day or two forget all about them. I have tried eating dried fruits/nuts only to give up after a few days. Plus I find that eating nuts such as almonds, walnuts, etc makes my skin break out. :( There really is no hope for me... UNLESS ofcourse I get married because I have seen how my once-skinny-friends balloon up after a month or two of getting married. ;-0
Anyway, just the other day I was told by a taxi-driver (on my way home from my dermatologist) that tomato does wonders for the skin... so I've decided to include that in my daily intake of food. Also, I have been trying to drink at least 2 litres of water per day... that too should help clear up my skin a little (Keeping my fingers crossed!).
So... there is my sad little tale. Sigh.
Back to topic: Kalonji oil smells awful!
Re: Kalonji Oil

^ Please do. :(
Re: Kalonji Oil
hey Afsoon,
i think the main thing here is that you know why you are having problems. as you said your problems won't improve if you don't start eating well. you can try all the remedies in the world but if you're stressed, not eating well and not sleeping well how can you expect things to really improve? i was unhappy to read in another post that you spent a considerable amount of money on a chemical peel, when no doubt the reason for your pimples is connected to your stress and diet.
you need to find some positive energy and focus it on trying to change yourself. firstly i would suggest a trip to your doctor. explain how you are feeling and how you find it difficult to eat. get a blood test to rule out any iron deficiency or a thyroid problem. the doc may refer you to a nutritionist who can come up with a plan to get you eating and healthy. he/she may also suggest counselling if the real root of all your problems is stress.
in the meantime, since it sounds like you're not eating a balanced diet, start taking the multi-vits! put a calender somewhere that you can't miss and mark off everyday when you take your pill. get someone in your family to remember for you and give it to daily. find out what you should be including in your diet as a substitute to meat. drink camomile tea before you go to bed to help you sleep better.
and marriage isn't a magical turning point that makes all your problems disappear. lol, everyone i know that has ballooned after marriage has done so because they are pregnant or they were dieting beforehand and once married stopped caring about controlling themselves.
good luck :)
Thank you for taking out the time to respond to my post... that was awfully kind of you. :)
I have actually talked to my family doctor about all of my "ailments" (lol)... and I have, time and again, been told to "eat more/ worry less". I have also seen a nutritionist and an internalist... and both concluded that, physically, I am as healthy as a horse.
"Eat more and worry less": I realize how easy of a concept that really is... but wish I had it in me to actually follow through. I fully understand that my skin problems, my inability to get a good night's sleep, my lack of appetite as well as energy, my hairloss, etc are all due to my level of stress.
Once again, thank you for all the great advice. Much appreciated! :)
Re: Kalonji Oil
wow.. all that talk of kalonji oil and so many people trying it out.
did anyone see any results.. it's been so many months now.
Hey people just found this website for kalonji oil (blackseed oil) It is good for loads of other problems…
I have been told it remedies excessive hair falling problem...Please share your experience if you have used it or heard anything about this... Also, If you are aware, can you list more qualities of kalonji oil? thank you!
i dont agree with this statement because i read samething in herbal medicine books and even about ginger . i tried on many people with anyresults.
if you are still intrested you could wash your hairs with onion juice. coloungi or black seeds are onion seeds
Is kalonji onion seed?
Yes.
Re: Kalonji Oil
i read somewhere to kinda "roast" the kalonji on pan (dry heat) ... put it in a bottle, and then put olive oil in it ... leave it for a day ... and then use it thereafter ...
someone also said something about roasting lehsan (garlic) .... and adding that to olive oil and putting on hair ... (not so keen about that because of the smell it'll leave on my head for like forever!)
there are hadiths in which Prophet (pbuh) mentions that the black seed has a cure for everything except death. :)
yeah this is true.
yes kalonji oils really does work. It especially worked for me in strengthening and thickening my hair when I needed it the most like when I had a full load of classes and I was studying nonstop, I neglected my hair completely but would use kalonji oil once a week and it works great. However, I didn't like the thickness that came with it or the smell..but it was worth it in the end! My cousin uses it too and everyone asks her ALL the time "What are you using in your hair" so yeah mashaallah it seems to be working.:)
where did you get the kavangi oil from and how often would you use it in your hair, and how long would you leave it in for?
thanks.
There are so many remedies out there and different people have different experiences! What to try…![]()
