Kaleem, I'm perplexed...

I think we need you to set the record straight. On one hand you criticized everything that this government has done (religious righteousness, Afghan/Iraq war, foreign policy, Muslims treatment all over the world etc etc) but on the other hand you support what GOP/republicans stand for (which in essence is pretty much religious righteousness as I see it gleaned from various issues like stem cell research, gay marriages, euthanasia, and everything that’s supposedly forbidden in religion). So I am confused as to what it is that you stand for?

I don’t think the answer can be as simple as ‘oh I don’t support the war but support stance over gay marriages’ because you see, it’s not possible to have one and not the other under religious righteousness. There are always going to be crusades under the guise and there will always be discrimination in citizen right under it as well. So let me quote Bush on you ‘You are either with us or against us’.

Re: Kaleem, I'm perplexed...

I think I am getting a bit too old for me to comprehend Roman's threads. Roman, kindly try not to test our intelligence.

Re: Kaleem, I'm perplexed...

Money ... its all about the taxes and big corporation.

Re: Kaleem, I'm perplexed...

Roman, let me start by admitting that I made the mistake of voting for GW in 2004. Judging from what he has done or lack thereof in the last 3 years it is apparent that he has failed all Americans.

I do not consider myself a republican nor do I see any of their current leaders who can unite this country. If you must associate me with one group or another, you can label me as a conservative (socially, economically and religiously). I try to live within the boundaries of Islam. I am passionate about certain topics that you have mentioned. My thinking and philosphy is simple and straight forward.

  • I believe in charity and helping others, however, there must be accountability and responsibility on the part of folks I help. Just for that reason I do not believe in social welfare as defined by the democrats/liberals.
  • I do not think I have voiced my opinion regarding stem cell research. Without doing any reaserch on it I could not give you an opinion.
  • I am against gay lifestyle period, hence, abhor the idea of gay marriage.
  • Euthenasia is as complicated as any issue out there. Anything I or you will say will be debated until end of time. No use discussing such an issue in this post. I feel for the plight of muslims all over the world, however, I firmly believe that we as muslims must fix the problems ourselves. Do I believe that there are external forces that contribute to the continual demise of muslims? Yes there are. If we do not show resolve to eradictae the problems that plague us, we cannot expect to return to respectability.

I do not care what Bush said, I am neither with him or against him. I speak my mind on the issues the way I see them. No one party has all the solutions. You cannot pigeon hole people into one block or another.
I do not support Iraq war because I do not believe in the reasons given by the administration.
Look, democrats may have their hearts in the right place (doubtful...they are wolves in sheep clothing) but their minds are certainly not. Look at the mess welfare system created. They have given these folks a sense that they should be dependant on the Govt. to succeed. Success is a product of hard work and a little luck. If you and I can make it in this society, coming from another country, not a penny to my name than why cannot the people who were born and raised here. If you set your mind to it you can achieve it. One should always see the problems as enablers of success not the precursors to failure. Alas these democrats will have us believe that most of the americans cannot pee without govt. holding their penis.
Look at the mess of socialized medicine in other countries. The idea to take money from the rich just because they worked hard and made the right choices is wrong. This is the exact definition of class war.

If you want to further dicuss these topics, go ahead open up seperate threads if you are so inclined and I will be glad to discuss these topics individually.

Re: Kaleem, I'm perplexed...

what brother kaleem is saying in 10,000 words is that his hatred for gays and liberals is stronger than his ambivalence towards bush, and hence the choice.

Re: Kaleem, I’m perplexed…

Re: Kaleem, I'm perplexed...

i understand Kaleem and where he is coming from. he is fiscally and socially conservative. which is not the same as republican.
I consider myself fiscally conservative socially liberal, and only the centrist candidates seem to come close to it at times.

Re: Kaleem, I'm perplexed...

Kaleem, it's not about being democrat vs republicans but you do seem to take sides with republicans merely on the religious grounds:

  • Why is it that when it comes to gays you've a ready answer for it. A topic which actually requires more research and reading than simple 'I'm a conservative hence I abhore the idea' while on the other hand you can have similiarly a 'ready opinion' about Euthenasia but you don't? As a matter of fact Euthenasia is much 'simpler issue' if you look at it. It doesn't have as much complex social implications as gay marriages do. Same as stem cell research. Truth of the matter is that all these issues are ruled out by the current administration solely based on religious thinking instead of a social debate. "The idea to take money from the rich just because they worked hard and made the right choices is wrong. This is the exact definition of class war. "

*]No, that's not the idea. The idea is to take more money from those who have more money but still leave them with lots of money as a reward to their hard work and incentive to do more good. I'm not in favor of complete socialism neither do I endorse complete capitalism. But if you won't take more from those who have more then you'll have bigger class division which will lead to bigger class war or clash. I agree with you on the making it through in this country part though. Personally I do think that Americans need to get off their asses and work on any job. They shouldn't be looking at Mexican illegal aliens to do their dirty work.

Re: Kaleem, I'm perplexed...

The welfare program was overhauled by President Clinton Almost 10 years ago. Yet Kaleem is still crying about as if you should eliminate any type of safetynet altogether which isn't practical or wise or possible without destroying the country.

While Kaleem claims Democrats want to hold Americans penis while they pee (The Clinton welfare reform of '96 shows clearly the opposite of that to be true) Kaleem prefers to shove his head into adults bedrooms and figure out where they are sticking their penis's and if he doesn't approve then he says they should be denyed certain rights even when they aren't breaking any law.

Kaleem has a stance against socialized medicine, you won't hear him talking about solutions for the millions of children who have no insurance, Afterall those dumbass kids should just work hard it is their fault they weren't born to parents who have health coverage, why should tax payers have to help such worthless children?

In the end he will support a republican that is pro-war, anti-civil rights, fear monger over a Democrat because they are liberals who want to give children without insurance free medical coverage and equal rights to people regardless of their race, sex, color, national origin, disability, religion, age, and sexual orientation. Oh the horror of those liberals.

Re: Kaleem, I'm perplexed...

I will never understand how conservative claim moral and religious high ground when they are:

  • More apt to be racist
  • Not for helping the poor and downtrodden
  • Against equal rights
  • Pro war
  • Pro guns
  • Pro death penalty
  • Anti-environment *]Self absorbed with making money You can pretty much down the list of WWJD and the conservatives are on the other side.

Re: Kaleem, I'm perplexed...

My answers related to gays are based on religion. You can choose to disagree with Islam and answer to Allah. That is fine with me.
Euthenasia is not a simple issue, there are much more complexity than you will like to believe. It encompasses religious, social, economical, emotional aspects. Each situation needs to be judged on its own merit. There is no defined answer here.

Like I said, I am all for charity and helping people in need. I will not endorse social welfare as it is implemented in US today. There is very little accountability. These people believe that they are entitled to the money from the Govt. Welfare babies are a perfect example of that.
