We all watched George Fulton on ‘George ka Pakistan’. Majority of the viewers loved his natural and honest approach, at the same time Pakistani common man was also seen to be very receptive.
What if George was not white, but BLACK. My question to ya all fine folks in and from the land of pure is, would Kalla (black) George recieve the same kinda love and affection as a white boy george? Your comments and feelins pls…
someone mentioned this in the topic that's currently running in SS. The producer who is a lady would probably bring a bodyguard every time she would visit him.
The fact that most people associate kalay with Africa, their very first reaction would be "send this damn thing back to Africa" without even knowing where he is actually from. Since Pakistanis are mostly illeterate their ability to think is confined to a certain point. They will think no more seeing a black man walking on their land. If the british hadn't set differences among races, Pakistanis wouldn't have had to break down walls of prejudice. We were taught to descriminate!
i don't know what is wrong with you guys. Why do you guyz always have to be so suspicious about the goodness in others? Sheesh .. How about first speculate on your own so-called non-pakistaniness and then raise your finger on others.
^ Goodness? What goodness are we talking here? I am not really getting you. Could you Elaborate on your point?
We are only being reasonable and stating our very predictions. You think people won't have their eyebrow raised seeing a black man, good for you! I believe in being realistic. What does non-pakistaniness have to do with the issue? The very reason for this discussion is the fact that we are Pakistanis. Unfortunately, you are not taking into account the real Pakistanis. Are you from Karachi?
What are "real" Pakistanis? And I meant by “goodness” the very same behavior that was received by the "white" guy. It was “goodness” because it was delivered without any lust of personal benefits. We are really too big on assumptions. How can you all say ‘Pakistanis are racists’, ‘We are taught to discriminate’ ‘They are illiterate’ I thought that the majority of Pakistanis have some, if not much, knowledge of Islam. Before anything else does, this sets the true foundation, no? If that is, what makes you think you can do things correctly but not them? Or they are too shallow that because you are too civilized? And as far as the fear/ condescension toward blacks goes, such things are everywhere and it affects everyone in some way, even you and me. If they can do one thing with a right intention, by showing warmth toward a 'white' stranger, they can as well move one step further and do the other thing, by embracing a 'black' stranger. If you guys disapprove a certain behavior being a Pakistani, why don’t you all take one step too to correct your very own people instead being, according to your own example, just like another Pakistani is toward a Black?
Firstly, I never said all pakistanis were racist. Secondly, this is not an assumption, you and the rest of the world has witnessed the racist acts being carried out towards blacks for as long as we can remember. Most pakistanis are illiterate, you can’t get pass the fact and understand the nature of their reaction. Sure most Pakistanis have a lot more knowledge of Islam than we do. Unfortunately, they blend culture, traditions, and customs with Islam even being an Islamic country. In this particular case, they act more accordingly to the culture not the religion. In Pakistani culture, it’s considered good to be a nativist. Why? I don’t know.. I am sorry to say but Islam really doesn’t set the foundation for Pakistani folks. If it did, many things would have never occured in the first place. Am I being too negative? Probably, but let’s face the facts. They are very shallow, they won’t ever like the things that have never been encouraged. (I am not taking in account the cities but rather countrysides and gawon) Cities by far are the most civilized parts of Pakistan. Remember, most pakistanis live in Gawon and Kachi abadi. You contradicted yourself in your post with the latter part of the post. Don’t even include the ones that live abroad! We have no issues like this when it comes to racism.
