Kala Bagh dam issue is back again

**Objections on Kala Bagh Dam of political nature: CJ LHC
**

LAHORE: Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) has remarked that the objections of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces on Kala Bagh Dam are of political nature which could be removed through dialogues.

The chief justice Umar Ata Bandial made the remark while hearing the petitions seeking construction of Kala Bagh Dam here on Thursday. He said that the construction of Kala Bagh Dam could turn out to be in the favour of national interest.

Bandial said that floods have become common after 2010 due to global warming, adding that there is a need to made sites for the storage of water.

The CJ said that the creation of Mangla Dam led to stop various developments. He said credit of various projects also went to Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

The hearing was adjourned till October 30.

Opposing voices from Sindh and KPK are heard simultaneously as the LHC gives observation on the political aspect of the project. Punjab is standling alone on this issue while the other provinces stick to their stance. ANP has vowed once again to oppose the dam “till last breath”](http://dawn.com/2012/10/25/anp-to-oppose-kalabagh-dam-construction-to-their-last-breath/) while Sharjeel Memon’s statement is no different.

Are we in for another pitched battle over the pros and cons of the dam?

Re: Kala Bagh dam issue is back again

elections are getting closer. this will help everyone retain some of their votes, nothing more.

though it should be analyzed purely on technical grounds, but i dont think anyone will do this, or let others do so
