This friend of mine whose father passed a month ago told that he had to struggle for getting a good quality grave. In his words ’ mere father ne zindagi bhi shahana tareeqe se guzari to unn ko tang jaga aur tang qabar main dafnanana ajeeb sa lag raha tha’.
Over the period, I’ve seen this trend of pakki qabar even in rural areas, where only Saints and Sufis grave were built alongwith tombs. Now, God forbid, a person dies due to accident (may be he was driving in drunk state), he is called ‘Shaheed’ and people built on pakka tomb over his grave.
What do you think are the factors affecting people’s choice to have pakki or kachi qbar?
Is it show-off (something like peeche reh jaane walon ki naak na katte)? or its a choice which varies from one region to other?
i subscribe to the belief that qabr must not be pakki nor should it have any katbah [tombstone]. qabr kaa naam o nishaan miT jaanaa chaahiye varna phir vohii hotaa hai jo aajkal ho rahaa hai...qabr-parastii...maiN ne apnii zindagii meN aisii qabroN kii ta'daad is qadar baRhte huye dekhaa hai k ab to qabr ke naam se hii Dar lagne lagaa hai k na jaane kab kaun kiskii qabr ko kisii buzurg kii qabr qaraar de kar koii mujaavir vahaN baiTh kar apnnaa qabr-parastii kaa kaar o baar na shur'u kar de.
the graves of my family members have now been unrecognizable. i know the general area where my parents are buried.
