Good to see this side of Kabul. May it remain peaceful!
Re: Kabul - Afghanistan
Impressive buildings under construction. The question is whether these buildings will remain standing or not. Time will tell.
Re: Kabul - Afghanistan
What good are these buildings when the majority are still living in poverty? What effort is being done to erradicate it? Pathetic if you ask me. It's like someone buying a Cadillac, and as a result, is forced to starve for 3 years.

Duh! The same can be said about Pakistan or India or any other developing country in the world.
They have to start somewhere to build/improve their economy.
Re: Kabul - Afghanistan
Duh!!! This thread is about Afghanistan, not Pakistan or India. Yes, they have to start somewhere, and that “somewhere” is from the bottom up. They shouldn’t feel the need to try and look like a developed country instantly. That comes in time, automatically when you do things properly.

Re: Kabul - Afghanistan
Yeah they're a bit rocket-crazy in there are they not?
Re: Kabul - Afghanistan
very nice.. finally some peace and reconstruction is returning to Afghanistan. But I think its only limited to Kabul and Herat at the most. Anyhow, peace will good for the entire region.

Re: Kabul - Afghanistan
Afghanistan’s first fashion show in decades
Models strode down a catwalk in Kabul for the first time in decades this weekend as two designers showed off their clothes behind the guarded walls of a luxury hotel.
An audience of expatriates and well-heeled Afghan watched the show in hotel garden, under a clear midsummer night’s sky, to the strains of traditional Afghan music. All of the models showing the conservatively cut clothes that included designer burqas were expatriate women, to the disappointment of some in the audience.
The organisers said they did not want to court controversy in what is a deeply conservative Muslim country by having Afghan models.
“The models should have been Afghan, but we know that many families still don’t allow their daughters to do things like this,” said a member of the audience, Nooria Farhad. reuters
