Has anyone read this beautiful short story by Tagore?
I hears that they are going to make a movie on this, where Amitabh Bachan will play the title.

Kabuliwallah by Tagore. I have read it. It is a beautiful and touching story. I also remember watching a black/White bengali movie with subtitles based on the book as a kid. :)

I kinda remember that there was also a black/white hindi movie on this subject, which had a very popular desh bhakti song.

Yep, with thespian Balraj Sahni in title role.The English translation of the SS is easily available on the net. Oh, here’s the song, truly describes the pain of a migrant living in a foreign country.

Recently I read a short story by Pakistani writer Zahida Henna, who took the story of this Afghan migrant to next level. The small Indian girl grown-up as dadi and her Doctor grand daughter goes to Afghanistan after 9/11 and attack on Afghanistan.
