Maine to suna tha saamp sirf kaatata hai :p

Re: kabhee kabhee, saanp kyoon soonghta hye?

yeah, if you were quiet if a snake was right by you, the chances that the snake would notice you, or get agitated or scared were less, so it was recommended that unless a snake is already in a fight/flight mode or agitated, if you just stay calm and quiet it will go away.

Re: kabhee kabhee, saanp kyoon soonghta hye?

Quiet,as in silent? What difference would that make?I always thought snakes had no ears!

Re: kabhee kabhee, saanp kyoon soonghta hye?

they sense vibrations though..so still and silent is teh way to go

^ :)

You know once upon a time, a snake passed right next to my foot and I didn't even know it till much later (till my cousins later pointed the fact out to me that is). I certainly wasn't very still or quiet back then. Perhaps the snake was of a peaceful disposition:)

Re: kabhee kabhee, saanp kyoon soonghta hye?

Re: kabhee kabhee, saanp kyoon soonghta hye?

oh i totally agree Mr. Fraudia, you know this happened to me when i was about 2 or so. i sat next to a cobra and it didnt do anything to me. My parents and family were inside the house, the snake was black and shimmery and i was sitting by it, it was against the wall. i kept calling it "lasi" meaning "rasi" i.e. rope. the lights had gone out in our neighborhood and i was outside the room. Staring at this thing. i kept asking my parents to come outside and see this "lasi". but they were all busy talking with our neighbors who were over and kept ignoring me, then at one point they decided to come outside to see what hte heck i was on about. and they were all sorta like hungh......until my dad shone his torch light out on it and realized the shiny beautiful rope was moving!! my mom yanked me away and my dad killed the snake with his tennis racket! he did that alot back then, not usually with his tennis racket though..

my parents said i was out there by myself talking about this "lasi" for quite sometime before they came out to see what i was saying. So i hung out with a black cobra when i was 2! hihi...and i guess its true if u basically stay still, they dont care!

which really just brings home the point that if we did not fear, we could probably co-exist even with cobras..you see... :)

Re: kabhee kabhee, saanp kyoon soonghta hye?

dyamn, where did u live that he had to kill a lot of cobras, with tennis racquet or otherwise..

Re: kabhee kabhee, saanp kyoon soonghta hye?

About Snakes:
Maar-e bad dar jaan zanad,
Yaar-e bad dar jaan-o imaan zanad.
A snake (enemy) attacks the body,
A bad influenced bf or gf attacks your body and virtue/conscience/astray from faith.
Funny, I had a dream this morning. In my right eye, there is a snake (tiny mini) and I can see it passing by inside my eye. I panick and open my eyelid and manage to pull it out. But the snake is huge and redish..... yukki....lol Sorry, I guess, I typed a lot of things notin to do with the thread :LB:

Re: kabhee kabhee, saanp kyoon soonghta hye?

oh mi god, Farwah...

i'm laughing my self away :>

good thing, the cobra was not in any litigation.

Re: kabhee kabhee, saanp kyoon soonghta hye?

thank u all for the nice elaboration and explanation on where the phrase came from.
i meant it in literal terms, though, where ppl say why someone becomes reserved and quiet, on purpose.

i do think that is nobler than to be yelling, unless, of course, u are up against some real injustices which then have to be denounced byall legal means.

Re: kabhee kabhee, saanp kyoon soonghta hye?

i was born in nawabshah! lots of cobras there! so my dad killed a lot of snakes...as tey were lots in our beautiful garden with long climbing trees and flowers etc.

although this particular snake my dad was not as eager to kill. i am told it was specially beautiful. it was long, and very black and shimmery.

Re: kabhee kabhee, saanp kyoon soonghta hye?

Beautiful but also "deadly" please remember!

Re: kabhee kabhee, saanp kyoon soonghta hye?
