Yum. Potatoes tastes good too with Kalay Chanay. I can only imagine mirch cut lenthwise will give the chanas different contrast color too.

Kaalay chanay are a standard iftari dish for biharis.. haha. My mom makes it kind of how you do and then she whips up some yogurt, adds a bit of red chili powder, chaat masala and adds on top of the chanay. They taste amazing.
I swear! My family just can't think of iftari without kale chole or kaalay chanay as we call it.
I don't really know how my mom makes it because I'm not a fan of it anyway so never got around to learn the recipe.
However, I made a chaat made out of red beans, black eyed beans and kaalay channe and it tasted pretty darn delicious. I posted the recipe for it too.

i have grown to like them after years and years of getting forced to eat them. apart from ramadan time, my mom makes it couple of times a week, my parents just can't get by without it. and i have to say, with daal chawal or even chawal and karhee, it is so delicious!
