K-2 adventure on GEO

Did anyone else see the promo on geo. It’s a reality show where 6 pakistanis climb the K-2 on it’s 50th anniversary. It looked really interesting. I think the leader of the group is a actor. He looked familiar.

Re: K-2 adventure on GEO

I've seen the previews. It looks really exciting. When does it actually air? Anybody know?

Re: K-2 adventure on GEO

it says "coming soon" so I am guessing in a month or so. Geo is back on my good side after george and now k2. I was really getting pissed at them for showing dramas like jo baat ghar main hai and the greatest drama of all time safaid posh.

Backpack Revolution meets raw brimming youthful energy and the result is Geo K2 Expedition “The Base Camp Challenge”, a thrilling adventure to the base camp of K2 and Nanga Parbat shot in the adventure travel reality genre. Geo K2 is an adventure travel reality show, in which Wajahat Malik a veteran trekker/climber and filmmaker leads a team of three young men and women who have no or little experience in high altitude trekking, to the base camps of K2 and Nanga Parbat.

This is the first time ever that such a world famous and arduous trek has been documented in its entirety by a television channel. The best part of the Geo K2 expedition series is that it coincided with the fiftieth anniversary of the first ascent of K2. So while the world was celebrating the golden jubilee of the first climb of K2 in July and August 2004, the Geo trekking/filming team was battling the elements of nature on the daunting Baltoro glacier. From exhausting walks, dangerous glacial traverses, frigid glacial stream crossings, to high altitude sickness and daring helicopter evacuations, this daring series with its sub name of “The Base Camp Challenge” is full of mind boggling adventure human emotions, endurance, harsh living conditions and perils of high altitude trekking.

At times the team members are elated and the moods are soaring, as they cover long distances, discover the breathtaking alpine beauty, experience a sense of camaraderie in the great outdoors and party with the Balti porters dancing the nights away. But at other times they are down with fatigue and exhaustion, high altitude sickness and experience extreme alpine weather conditions that take the steam out of their youthful enthusiasm unleashing high tempers that lead to crazy emotional dramas high in the mountains. The thirteen episodes of “The Base Camp Challenge” will introduce you to a whole new world of High Altitude alpine trekking and climbing where the adventurers live on the edge, flirt with elements of nature, defy gravity and push their limits to the extreme.

The Geo television team has documented this program which comprises of Younus Thakur-camera man, Mohi-uddin Ghazali-field engineer, Associate Producer-Abdul Waheed, Producer-Shams Kazmi who has specialized in producing documentaries and infotainment programs since the past 5 years and associated with various television channels; Executive Producer-Adnan Awan who currently handles the Special Projects Department in Geo TV and previously has been a head of current affairs and infotainment programming on multiple Pakistani satellite channels.

EP-5: Parbut Kay Us Paar

In this episode of Parbat Kay Us Paar we explore the town of Skardu which is one of the highest lands of the world, where 3 great mountain ranges Himalayan, Karakorums, & Hindukush meet in a very complex system of mountains, separated by narrow gorges of the rivers. Each mountain range is so close to each other, has a character of its own. From Skardu then we head out for Askhole via 5 jeeps; a whole 6 hour road-trip. Askhole is a campsite, with a hot climate during the day and extremely cold at night. This campsite is barren with rocks and with only numerable trees. Guess what? Our members have shrinked from 6 to 5!!! Woah! What do you think happened? Was it a quarrel? Did somebody chicken out? Or was somebody seriously ill? What’s all the commotion about? Now is the time when everybody will have a taste of their first trek! Nobody wants to go further! Will somebody freak out with a panic attack? Or do you think they will be brave enough to face their worst fears?

EP-7: Darya Kay Saath Saath

Watch out for the team getting crazy and insane as they are on with the trek! Maybe finally their getting the hang of it! Now the team is at the Braldu River which emerges out of Baltoro glacier. It’s is a swift raging, frigid glacier river, which is extremely dangerous and has had quite a lethal history. Watch out for drastic measure which Hercules takes to save the team. Our Geo’s field Engineer Ghazli gets to taste tripping into a cold stream! Woah! It just can’t seem to be getting juicer! What a narrow escape for the chap! And our Camera-man Younas Thakur who gets dehydrated, high and fatigued to his limits as he runs out of his personal water supply. Was the journey fun or were people just trying to fall in love with mission K-2 as now there was no turning back! Catch it all only on Geo TV!

Re: K-2 adventure on GEO

WOW... GEO is really setting a new benchmark here...
I was getting tired of GEO aswll, and since my only other alternative is PTV which probably cant spell quality let alone produce it, this new stuff is a breath of fresh air!
I havent seen the preview, but im sure its gonna be awesome.

Re: K-2 adventure on GEO

There was a big buzz in northeren areas regarding this adventure. It was reported in media that GEO contacted Nazir Sabir for this expedition but being an MNA now he politely declined.

Re: K-2 adventure on GEO

The host of the programme is the presenter who used to present travel guide of Pakistan for PTV.

Re: K-2 adventure on GEO

The programme should start on 19th March at 19.30 EST

I hope it helps

Re: K-2 adventure on GEO

thanks abrar. I can't wait

Re: K-2 adventure on GEO

Saw the preview - it looks exciting!!
You're right ATL - GKP and K2 challenge are the only decent programs (besides a couple others) that geo has to offer these days. I wish they would stop showing JBGMH, Ana, and Safaid Posh to gain their dignity back.

Re: K-2 adventure on GEO

I saw the preview... The contestants look like a bunch of weirdos.. I think there is a scene where one of the shop keepers gets pissed and throws something, so looks like thse guys are gonna be rather entertaining...

I’m guessing you are a saas-baaho mein tumhare bachay ki maa banay wali hoon, and my mehndi ceremony lasts for 2 wks, and I go to sleep with full make up on type of dramas

Re: K-2 adventure on GEO

Thats what makes it sooooo interesting:)

Re: K-2 adventure on GEO

Yeah, I havent been interesting in the Dramas, but it does seem weird that whenver they are on someone is getting married…
