Justify Justice

Saddam Hussein has been sentenced to death by hanging for the Dujail killings. Among the people killed were 149 men and boys. According to Saddam Hussein “he murdered these people because they planned an assassination attempt on him. Being the head of state and to maintain the writ of the government he had to exercise his power”. Soon Justice will be served to Saddam and his cronies.

According to the same legal system of justice, there is bigger perpetrator of the Iraqi people, a person whose actions have killed more than 600, 000 innocent Iraqi men, women, and children. A person who has devastated the social and physical infrastructure of the country, A person who has brought the country on the verge of a civil war, A person who has brutally tortured and jailed thousands of Iraqis across the country, A person who has fuelled sectarian violence by partitioning every event in the country in a Shia / Sunni divide, and all this because of speculations that Iraq has WMD’s.

A speculation that turned out to be totally false and baseless. Yes! I am talking about no one other then the great torch bearer of freedom Mr. George W Bush. I hope the Iraqi court hands him as swift a justice decision as was served to Saddam.

Re: Justify Justice

^ spot on

What happened to Saddam was also majorly due to the powerful-weak game, though he wasn't less innocent than a murderer and a tyrant. The Butcher Bush needs the same punishment. But who on earth will try and execute him?

It saddens me to death.

Dear marbles remember the pen is much mightier than the sword. :)

Re: Justify Justice

Difference between Dictatorship and Democracy,

Dictator can be held responsible, Saddam is Good Example

**In a Democracy, the People are responsible who elected the leader.:) **

Re: Justify Justice

To what you have written Mr/Miss/Mrs Sind sagar

I dint have the guts to come to such an independent, explicit, conclusion.

Re: Justify Justice

yes i agree with sindsagar

Re: Justify Justice

not if the vast overwhelming majority disagrees with the actions of the President. The system of checks and balances failed the people. The fault of the American poeple is not standing up for their right of having the systems of their own Republic enforced the way they were designed to.

They are not responsible for Iraq, or Saddam.. If there's chaos in Iraq today, the responsibility lies with Iraq's sectarian divide. why can't the Shias and Sunnis and kurds band together and fight their invaders away than welcoming them just to be the majority government over the other sects?

Re: Justify Justice

Holding a whole population responsible sounds nice but useless in practical terms....unless you want to go bomb them.

People elect leaders based on perceptions. Who can guaranty actions? That is why democracy has checks and balance of power. W's mistake was that he bypassed some of these controls (such as the Congress needs to know before declaring war etc). He did things on the sly. Therefore he and his team are responsible for the quagmire. You will also note that when the first opportunity arose the Americans showed W and his party what they thought.

Now that is democracy. Pakistan can conly wish for it.

Re: Justify Justice

You hit the nail right on the head, once you punish people enough they will go after their govt. After all its the government of the people, by the people, for the people… yes people people people.
