I know, the CJ had recently summoned Nawaz sharif (Defence Minister) to the court and he quickly announced the next CJ. It seems as if Suomoto Chaudhary for once has forced NS to take a better decision.

There were some voices to review the CJ powers related to suo motos and cut the wings of the article. But I think Sharif has chosen a better way to indirectly intimidate the CJ by the announcement of the incoming CJ that the outgoing chief's time is over.

CJ had ordered the PM to be present in the court as Defence Minister if missing persons were not brought before the court by Thursday. Khawaja Asif has been named defence minister so that Sharif does not have to go to court :)

I can't comprehend, how and why would a criminal want to have a honest CJ ??

The News article mentioned that this brings an end to Iftikhar's 8 year tenure. Now, that would mean it started in 2005, but wasn't I.Ch. the CJ from 1999 even if he was on the court before hand?
