He is an honorable man but our system is very bad , Very easy here to make a very cheap system to identitfy voters with thumb impression , if he can do this .

ISLAMABAD- PTI Chairman, Imran Khan demanded today that Justice (Retired) Rana Bhagwandas, a highly respected and credible judge, not be humiliated by being appointed as a powerless Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) as before.
Khan reminded that "we saw this in the last elections when PTI fell victim to massive rigging or as is now popular coinage as “punctures”. The helpless CEC was unable to control the active bias of the Election Commissioner, especially in Punjab, which remains controversial even today.”
PTI Chairman reiterated that a credible citizen like Mr Bhagwandas, who has served the country with dedication in a long illustrious career, should not be humiliated by being placed as a powerless head of the ECP which has yet to function in an independently assertive and transparent manner to make truly fair and free elections possible.
Imran Khan made it clear that PTI will not accept a biased and weak ECP headed by a powerless CEC and politically-biased Election Commissioners, some of whom intervened directly to undermine the fair and transparent electoral process on the polling day itself.

Let us ruin a great man of honour and integrity by giving him a powerless post and than dragging him in the same court he headed with dignity. I fully second IK’s stand on this and would expect Justice Bhagwandas not to fall prey to this trap.

Because he does not want an honourable and upright man to become a punching bag. Pakistan Election Commission has in its system loopholes of Titanic proportions which cannot be undone by anyone unless meaningful legislation, implementation and adoption of state-of-the-art technology are used for fair and free elections.

i do agree on this one considering how toxic our bureaucratic culture has been…bhagwan sahib has a great reputation…which may very well be tarnished in this role
but on the other hand how do we expect improvement when good people will not be supported and encouraged…chicken or the egg dilemma
plus as pasha pointed out, IK was supposedly supporting his nomination before.

I think if our politicians are sincere and genuinely want to have credible elections, they will first need to provide proper legislation and backing to the election commission to actualize the plan. Mr. Bhagwandas will have to work within the system which is utterly corrupt.

I am sure Imran’s intentions are sincere, but I really think he needs to reassess what he says, almost everything is coming back and hurting his stature and popularity. If Bhagvandas is indeed an honest and dignified personality like he says, then he need not be worried about having his legacy ruined. Furthermore, I am sure Bhagvandas himself (who understands legislature way better than Imran because of his experience and expertise) would back out of this himself if there really were all these loopholes of Titanic proportion.

Rana Bhagwan das is an upright and honest man, but the system of election commission is all messed up. Until CEC is made independent and powerful no person can make any difference in the working of the organization.
