Basically right now IK is neither in govt nor in opposition so why would govt bother to run for their consent. Yes they can put up demands from the top of container but it would be similar to the person running up the roof and asking he'll suicide if he doesnt meet his gf. Now it comes to individual judges if they really want to hold this position or no. I'm sure someone will accept it shortly but we shouldnt keep much hopes from that either way.

How about making Kulsum Nawaz as CEC?
Well, as next turn is of Zardari to rule Pakistan ... probably Bakhtawar Zardari would be a good choice for CEC, right?.

Btw, PPP and NS are working together to modify the constitution to remove the restriction that it has to be ex-judge

Well, they have 2/3 majority in NA (PPP + PMLN)
And they also have 2/3 majority in Senate if they throw some bones to ANP and Independents. :)
If they want judge than they can even bring in Rafiq Tarar as EC ... no problem. Rafiq Tarar is obedient servant of Nawaz.
If they want to, than they can even appoint notoriously corrupt judge, Iftikhar Chaudhry as EC ... though it is possible that PPP may not accept him.

Actually it has more to do with the powers CEC can exercise.
Jang is reporting that Tasadaq Jilani refused because he wanted all the powers that Indian CEC have. He did not want to be a toothless lame duck in the office. He wanted fully independent EC with all the powers.

Actually I believe on NEWS no matter where its coming from but not the TWISTED VIEWS of different channels. JANG (and all other channels) has habit of mixing news and views to give their own spin. This was actually quoted. I have enough brain to analyze the news and do the analysis. I don't want 1000000000/month analyst to mess it up for me.
Pakistani journalism has gone down the drain. You try to read JANG online, there will be a news infused with their views and then there will be a news about Amir Liaqat starting a Inam Ghar in TOP NEWS STORIES sections and then next news would be about children of thar dying and then next would be how Shaista Wahidi show is getting the most ratings....all in top news section.

What a country we live in, instead of blaming incompetent corrupt cowards who have ruined every institution they possibly could, we should blame the man raising voice against it :)
After finding garbage in the bags instead of votes in constituency (Saad Rafiq) PTI wanted investigated, people should shut up about free and fair elections.
Funny thing is we have heard all of our lives that our system is faulty otherwise we can progress as a country and now that someone is showing us what exactly is wrong with our system, we don't want to know and move on without fixing it.

Justice Tasadaq said nothing , No such demand by him . He was CJ but spoke nothing except routine , He remained silent often like a learned judge during his career , even he refrain to comment during trial .
