oh i am sorry...i did not know that....thank you for enlightening me....so bhagwandas who is a citizen of pakistan..one of the most well respected judges we had with an impeccable charcater...and we want to him to hold all kind of offices but too bad...he cannot become President of the country because he is a hindu!
Why is it that only ex-government employees (ex-judges, generals and bureaucrats) can be appointed chairman NAB? Would it not make them more ‘hamrdard’ towards their ex-colleagues? Isn’t NAB supposed to target government employees and public office holders? Is it that people other than judges, generals and bureaucrats are not capable of heading such an organization?
NAB has to be made truly independent. Gilani sahib is continuously ignoring NAB’s demands and nothing much can be done about it. Supreme Court ‘directs’ NAB… not acceptable.
Anti-corruption laws need to be streamlined. Our prevention of bribery laws date back to around 1950s.
Public needs to be made aware of what constitutes ‘illegal’ behavior by government employees and public office holders and how they can report such incidents to NAB.
Complaints of election misconduct has to be brought under NAB. Election Commission’s work would be much easier if they can simply refer election misconduct to NAB. Election Commission is not trained to conduct inquiries into illegal acts.
ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition Syed Khursheed Shah had apparently tried to outclass Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif by recommending the name of Justice (R) Rana Bhagwandas as the new NAB chief, but despite his parliamentary experience and seniority he has erred, as the reputed judge is ineligible for the post of chairman NAB.
Rana Bhagwandas, who completed his term as chairman FPSC last year, cannot hold any office in the service of Pakistan after his retirement from the FPSC under the FPSC law.Section 5 of the FPSC law says: “Ineligibility for further employment: On ceasing to hold office, a member (including chairman) shall not be eligible for further employment in the service of Pakistan.”
Justice Bhagwandas cannot be hired in the service of Pakistan anymore because of legal reasons. I hope now this clause of the FPSC is not turned into another religious debate in this thread. Grow up guys.
I wonder while nominating Justice saheb for this post, PPP didn’t know about this clause? hard to believe, since they have appointed at least 2 (may be more) NAB Chairmen in their recent tenure of govt

Agreed. Someone from the party should have known that once served in the FPSC, one becomes ineligible for further federal assignments. But in the case of Justice Mamoon Qazi, PPP was caught unaware that their nominee was bedridden. Looks like PPP does not believe in completing its homework properly.
