What were the odds that a captain who was captaining his side for 1st time … whos team had waited so long to beat tht particular opponent … whos opponent was 52-5 … wud introduce a non-regular bowler like “Umer Amin” ?
If someone had bet that Umer Amin will bowl the 21st Over of the inning of 2nd Test against Australia … how much had he earned?
^ That was a pretty unusual move given the situation...no doubt about that.
That got me thinking. How do these spot-fixing players remember all the different things they need to do at different points in the game ( I mean its not as if Majeed is calling them on the field to remind them) ? May be they have the list in their pockets which they refer to frequently. -- 3rd over ki pehli ball no ball karwaani hai -- 9th over ki tisri ball bouncer phenkwaana hai -- 21st over Umer Amin ko denaa hai
and so on...
Most importantly - what happens if the involved player forgets to do what he had promised to the bookie he will do ? I guess the bookie ends up making huge monetary losses. So how is the player punished ?
Some critic had raised same point .. if player (especially captain) is involved in spot fixing … then although nature of spot fixing is minor then actual match fixing … but it make player lose his focus on game …
As Majeed pointed out … they’ve signals to identify whether a deal is on or not … so no signal mean deal is off
They defiantly have backup plans to remind player about fixing… Remember Aamer was caught talking on mobile during Pakistan-Sri Lanka match this june
