are we what others label us as? or are we what we label ourselves as?
why cant we just be ‘random’. why is it so important to stand for either This or That?

Re: just random...
When you stand for something, you do it for yourself, don't you? You believe in something. Everybody believes in something. It's why we live our lifes the way we do, ususally.
And yes, sometimes we are slightly what others label us, but others can't completey know you, for they can't read your heart. The person who best knows you is you yourself.
For example, you didn't do something and others will start to speculate about why on earth you didn't do that something, they will make up something completely different from the truth. You yourself are the only one who knows why you didn't do that someting.
So we are more what we lable ourself as.
Re: just random...
but then in that case...does it really matter what we think? when reality becomes what the majority thinks, their labels place u in a category and to some extent sometimes we even fulfill those labels by acting in accordance. Like a little kid who is labeled a certain way will at some point start acting accordingly becuz that is what is expected of him.....
Re: just random...
Theres something that I came to realize when I was in my early 30's....it was the biggest thing I think that defines "maturity"...
and its that...
everyone's version of "truth" and "reality" is DIFFERENT. You can take a group of people, put them in a room and have them watch a skit. Each and every one of them will have a different version in the re-telling of the skit. There is no black and white, there is no truth. There is only everyones version of their own particular reality and its always different from others' version of it.
When I at long last realized this, i was able to do and be myself. whew! what a long ride that was! May it not take you as long!

Random…yes… ![]()
Re: just random…
i agree with you a 100% that is why I wonder if there is no such thing as a “truth” then what are we REALLY like? an extreme case of such a thinking would make even killing people justifiable.
Re: just random…
Very true, it’s in human nature I guess. We have to learn to be ourselves, and experience and age in life helps us to really become our true selves.

If there has ever been a time that mamaof3 has been as right as she could be, it is now.
Re: just random...
yeah, not everything is always black and white. there are often some gray areas.
