Just Bought a 10% Hydroquinone Cream for my Face

I am really getting sick of my acne scars, I tried glycolic acid peels, but the darkness isn’t fading as quickly as I want it to…therefore I bought a 10% hydroquinone cream for my face…I wanted to ask you guys this is safe right? I will def be wearing heavy sunscreen and avoid the sun…how long before I see results? anyone else use a 10% cream? Should I apply twice a day or once at night is fine?

Re: Just Bought a 10% Hydroquinone Cream for my Face

In my humble opinion, using 10% hydroquinone WITHOUT being under a doctor's supervision is a bad idea. Personally I would never take this type of risk with my face.

With all due respect.....the fact that you're even asking whether or not hydroquinone should be applied twice a day or once at night tells me you have no clue what hydroquinone does to the skin and just how big of a risk you're taking by even considering this high of a dosage.

You only have one face. Please don't take such a huge risk with it on your own.

10%?? where did u get that from. never heard abt it. ok honestly i will b scared to use 10%. i dunno if u can dilute it by mixing to a face cream n use it 2x a week only for first few weeks

Re: Just Bought a 10% Hydroquinone Cream for my Face

I wouldn't do it if I were you

Re: Just Bought a 10% Hydroquinone Cream for my Face

omg! i had no idea 10% was wayy too much...I guess I figured since they were selling it online, it was okay...
would it still be unsafe to use it just once a week with a light application? or just stay away from it?

Re: Just Bought a 10% Hydroquinone Cream for my Face

^ Stay away from it. 10% is ridiculously high when it comes to hydroquinone. Buy over the counter creams that has 2%-3%.

I'm assuming you have hyperpigmentation that you're trying to even out? Unfortunately you really do need to have patience to get rid of it safely (especially since you're doing this on your own). You can start doing lactic acid peels (around 50%) once a week....and do spot treatment with 2%-3% hydroquinone nightly. You should use the hydroquinone for like 2-2.5 months and then stop using it. This is not safe for long term use.

If you have the downtime.....I recommend you consider TCA peels.

As always, be VERY digilent with sunscreen and staying out of sun as much as possible.

Re: Just Bought a 10% Hydroquinone Cream for my Face

^ On a side note: creams containing ingredients like hydroquinone, retin-a/retinol should always be applied during the night. Never apply these during the daytime (unless you're planning on staying indoors the entire day for sure).

Re: Just Bought a 10% Hydroquinone Cream for my Face

Like everyone said, use HQ only with a prescription. 10% is strong, especially if you've never used it before.

Re: Just Bought a 10% Hydroquinone Cream for my Face

i might not throw a 10% HQ though. u can use it on dark knees, elbows, ankles. etc. that will giv u an idea of what to expect too. where did u buy it from?
